Product Description

THERM O WEB-Heat 'n Bond Ultra Hold Iron-On Adhesive. This adhesive is a paper backed sheet of solid heat activated adhesive. It uses a low temperature and short pressing time so it allows for a wider range of materials that can be bonded. There is no steam or pressing cloth needed. Will not lift or pucker after washing. Its no-sew bond is three times stronger than any other traditional fusible web. This package contains one 10yd bolt of 17in wide adhesive. Made in USA.

I use this for appliques on items that won't be washed in washer/dryer or for things I'm going to stitch in place.

It comes in a sheet that has paper on one side. The instructions say to iron it using a medium temperature iron for 2 seconds on the fabric you are applying then cutting out your applique shape from that, peeling up the paper back and putting it on what you are applying it too, holding the iron in place for 6-8 second on all spots. For heavier fabrics, a couple seconds longer.

That didn't work for me, a 2 second tack with a medium heat iron created such a light tack that as soon as I picked up the pieces I was working on, they started peeling apart. Pressing for 3 seconds with an iron just between medium and high worked better.

Creating the fuse between that and the other piece of fabric took the high medium heat, and about 8 seconds, plus I flipped it over and did it on the other side for a couple seconds. Peeling up the paper backing can be a little tricky. I made a small tear in the heat and bond and that helped pull up the paper back. Once it's loose it's easy to pull of the backing.

It works like a thin layer of hot glue, so the areas it's applied to will be a little stiff, and the heat of washing and drying can loosen that bond.

What it's great for is decorative items. The glue works to stop fraying and adds structure. Decorative flags and signs can be done with this. It also works wonderfully to put things into place that you will be stitching. I've used it to make strong beading foundations, and I think that 2 fat quarters fused together using this would make a very unusual and interesting scrap book page.

Not a substitute for sewing to make clothes with, but it does work very well in a lot of applications.

I needed something that would keep two pieces of fabric together without sewing. It lasted two washes, but after that the item started to come apart. If you intended to sew the fabrics together this is a nice way to prevent it from bunching, it will NOT keep them together indefinitely. For what it is worth, I read the manufactures instructions on how to wash the fabrics and followed the instructions.

I use this for bookbinding, as a way to fuse together lighter fabrics such as silk or linen. Anyhow it works great with any fabric. Very pleased with it.

I have been using this adhesive for years and my only criticism is the fact that it is becoming harder and harder to find locally. I use a lot and used to be able to buy the multi-yard packages locally but found that recently very it just wasn't being carried in the stores.

I dont sew. I like to pretend I will but now that I found this - likely not going to happen. I have used this a BUNCH now for a variety of products. Most commonly for making cute onesies for friends with all different fabrics. It's no lie - it literally turns any fabric into an iron on. Because these have all been gifts I can't speak to how well it does in the wash and with spills, stains, etc. but the inital finished product rocks!

This is so easy to use! I have never worked with fabric before so I bought a roll of Heat and Bond Ultra to attach fabric to denim overalls. It ironed on with ease and no mess and I was even able to cut detailed lettering from it.
