I first experienced Mark Wood when I went to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra for the 9th time. He had never toured with the western troupe before until the holidays of 2008. He added a whole new dimension to the performance and I decided to check out his discs once I got back on Amazon.
This recording kicks off in high gear and hardly takes a breath until the end! At times you could swear Wood was playing an electric guitar instead of the electric violin that he himself developed. All of the songs have a hook and this whole disc became one of my favorites. I had to listen to the disc several times before I appreciated it and allowed myself to like it. Once I did I found myself taking this music with me wherever I go.
Definitely listen to the samples of Wood's music before purchasing any of it. In this respect he is very like the Trans-Siberian Orchestra; If it's not your style, it just isn't for you. If you like it, you'll love it!!

mark wood and his rock violin, I would suggest guitarists listen
to him, steal a few licks like yngwie does of paginini, you might
get a few cool chops from it!!!

I've been into Mark's stuff since it first came out on Shrapnal Records, along side other great instrumental shred releases back in the day. Hearing what he can make a violin sound like is a lot like the first time you see Michael Angelo Batio play his double axe. Mind blowing! Treating the violin like a guitar, tone wise, & plugging it into a stack with effects, a cry baby, & adding a whammy bar was total genius! Highly recommended for fans of- Vai, Stariani, Petrucci, Malmsteen, Stump, Moore, Howe, Harris, Chastain, Becker, Gilmore, Gilbert, etc...
