I walked into a record store in Oslo, Norway on Monday and the guy behind the counter had just put "These Friends of Mine" on. My Norwegian husband, my teenaged son and I were all dumbstruck - what was this magic floating out of the speakers? We hung around the shop and listened to the first three songs - each one better than the last - before buying the CD. Our only multi-generational regret: "These Friends of Mine" lasts only 33 minutes.

I bought this cd as a surprise to myself, as I had never heard of Rosie Thomas... AND I love her! The cd is beautiful, relaxing and even humorous at times. Super creative and FUN!

This is a beautiful record. I understand that some of the songs were recorded in Rosie's friends apartment in New York City. In fact the entire album sounds like a love letter to New York City, like some of the old Simon and Garfunkel albums. I really liked the simple production, it really lets the beauty of the music come through - like a beautiful woman without make up. I hope Rosie continues to make this type of album. If you like this album you may also like Laura Gibson's If You Come to Greet Me, another fine record by an under appreciated artist.

This is an entirely satisfying album, one I can play multiple times in a row.
There is so much quiet, subtle, intricate beauty in the album, it is a perfect disc.
Honestly I like Rosie in general, but I am only gaga for this album.
Honestly again, I love Sufjan Stevens, and even though he is in the background
in this music, he shines, all of his best qualities, even humility glow here.
A must have for Sufjan fans, and a great album by Rosie.
Did I say it was a perfect album? It really is.

'These Friends of Mine' is one of those rare albums that, much like albums by the Innocence Mission, is some of the most tranquil and beautiful music you could ever have the pleasure of listening to. Rosie Thomas' voice is just haunting and angelic.

My only regrets about this album is that its so short and I wish there more to it.

Why had I never heard of Rosie before? She is the best. I have now purchased all of her CDs. I love the repartee she does with her band members. She has a gorgeous clear voice and I love the songs she sings. I highly recommend all of her Cd's.

This is one of my favorite cds. I LOVE Rosie Thomas! The Kite Song is wonderful - the lyrics are touching and the music beautiful.

Bought on a whim, this CD has turned out to be a real treasure. Soft, lyrical and really comforting music. I'm lovin' it. The infectious giggling with her pals on one song has you enjoying it almost as much as they obviously enjoyed making it.

Rosie Thomas is one of my favorite singers. I found her by "accident" over a year ago and have all her music. While this CD is great, it is not my favorite. It lacks some of the wistfulness that has made her music so unique. However, having said that, it is still sweet, silly, and magical and still at times, wistful. I would recommend this to any of her fans.
