Even with the endless supply of diet, exercise, and self-help books on the market today, Ann King could not find what the real issues were with losing weight. Most of what she found seemed to tell her only what she needed to eat or not to eat in order to lose weight, or what exercises would work best. She had a difficult time identifying with the experts telling her what she should and should not do. She needed a book that could offer her support during her weight-loss efforts.
These Hips Are MineTM:A Weight-Loss Companion Guide is intended to buoy those who are trying to make a change on the inside that will manifest itself on the outside. King, who has worked as an electrical engineer and is currently raising her two children full-time, says, "I began this book at a time in my own weight-loss journey when I felt that I had nowhere to turn for answers and guidance. The self-help books I had read offered some help, but seemed to address major problems and not the accumulation of minor, everyday stresses that normal people had."
What she discovered in the writing of it is that one can find a way out of the confusion. King explains, "It is possible to identify these minor issues and address each of them in a way that leads to long-term weight-loss success."
The book is about learning how to lead a healthy lifestyle to become a thin, fit person. Rather than tout deprivation from short-term diets, it describes how to develop long-term changes through personal choices. Short stories of challenging food situations based on the author's own experiences are presented in order to explore and understand what subliminal driving forces may be causing behaviors that create eating patterns that are less than physiologically ideal. Survival techniques are included to help in difficult situations that could potentially lead to out-of-control eating behaviors. The author also discusses how to categorize negative influences, as well as how the past can affect current decisions. Additionally, there is a section that goes over basic nutritional information to help readers learn how and why they need to eat a healthy diet.
"Losing weight and keeping it off is a journey of self-discovery," explains King. "Understanding what unconscious behaviors impact weight loss is a lifelong process. Practicing and becoming knowledgeable in basic nutrition will lead to better choices and long-term success." She points out that while making change, it is also critical to know what to expect in terms of results--and that having that knowledge, often means the difference between success and failure.
These Hips Are MineTM is a must for anyone who wants to achieve weight loss and control, and see their health--and their spirit--dramatically improve.
