Biography

They call him THE AMBASSADOR…The A-M-B-A! Born William “Duce” Branch, he represents what appears to be two clashing cultures—the Kingdom of God and hip hop—but with skillful integration he demonstrates that hip hop can be made to serve the Kingdom.
THE AMBASSADOR, a founding member of the critically acclaimed group The Cross Movement, stands as a shining example of how hip hop can be properly… Read more in Amazon's Ambassador Store

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the only 5-star worthy albums I've heard in my life time., December 15, 2005
This review is from: Thesis (Audio CD)
I have over twelve years of consistent hip-hop listening under my belt, and without any reservation at all I can safely say that this is one of the few albums that I've heard that is truly deserving of all 5 stars. As a new listener to the Christian Hip Hop genre this year, I wasn't sure what to expect, and quite frankly I was worried that the majority of the music would be soft, bland and low budget with mediocre beats and production.. and then I got a hold of this album. Not only was my door now open to Christian Hip Hop, but the hinges were blown off.

The beats, the production, the lyrics, and most importantly, the message are all dead on the money. This is no small feat considering that with most Hip Hop albums, you have to choose between having good beats and production, or between having good lyrics and a message, but you get it all in this package! The best way that I can describe it is to take the general style, quality and sound of Lil Jon, Kanye West, and the Wu Tang Clan's beats, and then match them with one of the most skilled lyricists you can imagine, with a Christian twist. Except it's not just a twist. It's the CORE essence of the music. Christ can be found on every song, and the Ambassador accomplishes this without sounding the least bit preachy or soft.

You NEED this album! If your looking to explore the Christian Hip Hop genre for the first time, start here! If your already versed in Christian Hip Hop and haven't heard this album yet, then strap on your headphones and prepare to be spoiled rotten.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gotta give it up..., August 4, 2005
By
This review is from: Thesis (Audio CD)
I was impressed with this. Everyone knows Christology was classic, and everybody knows Ambassador has laid down hot joints on the other CM albums. I think this was a really good follow-up. Off top, the production on this album is better than any of the CM albums I've heard, which is important to someone from the east coast who think that the beat and flow go hand in hand. Secondly, Ambassador's flow is perfect for the message, because its clear, witty and you always get the point in his songs. My favorites are "Get Ya Open," "Feels good" and "Body Talk." Lyrically and flow-wise, I think Ambassador and Phanatik bring it the best. And of course, the message is the main key. Like Phanatik said on Heaven's Mentality, "the khakis, suits and boots are optional, as long as the disagreement is nothing doctrinal." One.

4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant album but..., October 18, 2006
This review is from: Thesis (Audio CD)
I love this album. Ambassador is the greates lyricist Ive ever heard, and contrary to some of the other reviews his proclamations of Jesus and Gospel are all over this album. My only problem is that its too up tempo too often. On his first joint he had more variety of beats and better guest spots, and Im not a fan of the Cross Movements recent trend of not featuring on each others solo joints. Ambassador is at his best when he flows to more intense and thoughtful beats, not this dance music thats all over this album. Clothes and Hair is the best song here, and most of this album is really good, but his earlier stuff on House of Reps and Christology is much better.
