One of the only 5-star worthy albums I've heard in my life time.,
By Steve Inc (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Thesis (Audio CD)
I have over twelve years of consistent hip-hop listening under my belt, and without any reservation at all I can safely say that this is one of the few albums that I've heard that is truly deserving of all 5 stars. As a new listener to the Christian Hip Hop genre this year, I wasn't sure what to expect, and quite frankly I was worried that the majority of the music would be soft, bland and low budget with mediocre beats and production.. and then I got a hold of this album. Not only was my door now open to Christian Hip Hop, but the hinges were blown off.
The beats, the production, the lyrics, and most importantly, the message are all dead on the money. This is no small feat considering that with most Hip Hop albums, you have to choose between having good beats and production, or between having good lyrics and a message, but you get it all in this package! The best way that I can describe it is to take the general style, quality and sound of Lil Jon, Kanye West, and the Wu Tang Clan's beats, and then match them with one of the most skilled lyricists you can imagine, with a Christian twist. Except it's not just a twist. It's the CORE essence of the music. Christ can be found on every song, and the Ambassador accomplishes this without sounding the least bit preachy or soft. You NEED this album! If your looking to explore the Christian Hip Hop genre for the first time, start here! If your already versed in Christian Hip Hop and haven't heard this album yet, then strap on your headphones and prepare to be spoiled rotten.

Gotta give it up...,

I was impressed with this. Everyone knows Christology was classic, and everybody knows Ambassador has laid down hot joints on the other CM albums. I think this was a really good follow-up. Off top, the production on this album is better than any of the CM albums I've heard, which is important to someone from the east coast who think that the beat and flow go hand in hand. Secondly, Ambassador's flow is perfect for the message, because its clear, witty and you always get the point in his songs. My favorites are "Get Ya Open," "Feels good" and "Body Talk." Lyrically and flow-wise, I think Ambassador and Phanatik bring it the best. And of course, the message is the main key. Like Phanatik said on Heaven's Mentality, "the khakis, suits and boots are optional, as long as the disagreement is nothing doctrinal." One.

Brilliant album but...,

I love this album. Ambassador is the greates lyricist Ive ever heard, and contrary to some of the other reviews his proclamations of Jesus and Gospel are all over this album. My only problem is that its too up tempo too often. On his first joint he had more variety of beats and better guest spots, and Im not a fan of the Cross Movements recent trend of not featuring on each others solo joints. Ambassador is at his best when he flows to more intense and thoughtful beats, not this dance music thats all over this album. Clothes and Hair is the best song here, and most of this album is really good, but his earlier stuff on House of Reps and Christology is much better.

I just cope a copy of this The Ambassador "The Thesis" and I love it! Who ever said that hip-hop and CHRISTian can't mix is wrong. This Cross Movement member has proving us all wrong! I enjoy every tack on this album but the ones that stand out to me is: Song for You, Feels Good and My Clothes, My Hair ill tracks. Just proves you can mix ill music and speak about GOD at the same time!

I don't know what people are saying about Ambassador's flow, or that he's selling out Christ. I like every track on this cd. This is an all around good listen if you like what CMR has been doing lately. I enjoyed this cd more then his first album. Yeah, Da Truth is good, but I would Listen to this cd just as much. Get it!

The Thesis is Waaaay Better than Christology,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Thesis (Audio CD)
The Thesis is way better than Ambassador's first solo album. He has tight lyrics that keep it real and don't try to veil the truth. He has so many good tracks on here that it's hard 4 me to pick my fave. However one of my favorites is: The Anthem. I could listen to this cd over, and over again. A few of my friends at school even sing the songs with me. Now this is the perfect example of how we're supposed to reach the hip-hop culture as Christians.

The last solo album from Cross Movement's Ambassador had some great moments but overall it didn't scream "buy me". This one is much more consistent. There's truly nothing on here that I feel is poor...even the lesser cuts are pretty good. The best stuff on here is leaps and bounds over, say, "Products of the City Life" from CHRISTOLOGY (which I thought was one of the better cuts off that album).
HIGHLIGHTS: See if you don't end up chantin' "A-M-B-A SS A-D-O-R" along with him before the song's over. It's here he states his manifesto: a love for hip-hop culture and those involved and a hope to introduce them to Jesus. ("I'm rappin' as long as I can till the chasm is gone/I know a God who'll put a Lazarus on 'em") S.O.U.L. and Cross Movement bandmate Da T.R.U.T.H. guest on "Feels Good", a celebration of the Christian life. ("It feels good/when you don't have to run from the cops/And duck when they come to the block/It feels good/not to be duped by a lie/But know how to use the truth to survive") "Get You Open" says he'll use the tools of hip-hop to "get you open" to the Gospel. ("And life after the casket's real/And since that's the deal/His word gets spilled when I grasp the steel/Forget mass appeal my heavenly Dad can deal/With making His word something that all cats can feel") "Elements" sends big ups to the "parts" of the hip-hop sound. "Body Talk" asks ladies to be modest in a non-legalistic way. ("I know you can blame it on the weakness of men/But the weakness is made weaker when we see your skin") "My Clothes, My Hair" points out the error in making cultural preferences "God's law". ("They elevate their own/they celebrate/They make their own what's right/They say it's what you like") "Back Home" reminds club bangers that God wants to know them, too ("You, in the Maybach/Laid back with the wave cap/Make your way back home/You, in the Von Dutch/Louis Vuittoned up/Girl, your times up-come back home..") LOWS: I could do without "intros" and "interludes"...they're just a pet peeve of mine on hip-hop CDs. But they're entrenched and probably will never go away. Out of the real songs, I think "We Worship You" is fairly repetitive and not up to the standard of the best tunes here, though it's not "bad". BOTTOM LINE: This is one of the best Christian rap CDs I've heard to this point...up there with John Reuben's ARE WE THERE YET? (ASIN B00004T9SY) and DeepSpace5's NIGHT WE CALLED IT A DAY (ASIN B00005UMSP). As far as that goes, I'd put it up alongside stuff like Jurassic 5 and Ugly Duckling, too. Recommended.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME...PART 2,
By F.T. POTS "ChristianRap fan" (las vegas, nevada) - See all my reviews

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This latest ministry project from C.M. is smoking just like all the others! Every cut ministers, so far my favorite is "my clothes,my hair". But don't get caught sleepin'. Crown Him, Elements, We Worship You, Oh Wretched Man, Amba-SS-ador are ALL slammin' also. God really used Bass to minister on Body Talk. AWESOME message for today. Not comparing albums from C.M., all minister to the body of Christ. Very pleased and blessed by the Movements latest effort. God Bless.

Speechless !!!!!! By far, the best Hip Hop album....period!,
This review is from: Thesis (Audio CD)
Look, I know that some may see my title and act blazay or call me crazy....but I implore you to give it a listen....the whole album (every second of every song...not 30sec mp3's)It's not like this is a surprise or anything, Ambassador's "christiology" album was a classic Holy hip hop album and will never be forgotten. This album far out does any secular Hip Hop album out there ...no joke. The flow, beats and message are sure to get ya believing. I am in awe...literally ! If people want to know my personal fav's... "thesis pieces"...10/10
"got you open" 15/10 :) the best track I think "feels good" 10/10 ready for ministering to the radio public "my clothes. my hair" 10/10 great hook, inspiring, radio ready. "back home" 10/10 rockafella type beat, powerfull message and just incredible hook...could easily play on radio too. "the anthem" 10/10 just can't get the chorus out of my head ....it's bananas ! tight beat and flow "worship you" 10/10 great message and flow...the spirit is in it! and "crown him" 10/10 powerfull message, incredible track...wow ! look, those 8 songs alone...better than anything on radio and this is an album full of hits...if radio ever gave it a chance.....the concept of the album is inspiring and full of the Word. The skills that Ambassador posseses is truly Spirit led and God given. I can truly say, that Ambassador's talent easily rivals any secular cats...and so do the tracks. take my word for it...buy it today...u will not be sorry for doing it! |
