5.0 out of 5 stars The sound of the Balkan region
This is an excellent album that blends the Slavian-gipsy culture with the Greek culture. It has fast paced songs such as the my name is Popie (my two year-old son jumps up and down when he listens to it), and night; as well as slower ones such as the Song Dedicated To Eleni F (I love the vocals on this song they have an influence from the rembetiko styl of music) and the...

1.0 out of 5 stars This wasn't for me
When purchasing recodings made by Greek artists, I've always felt that I couldn't go wrong by purchasing anything produced by Dalaras. This CD proved me wrong. While I concede that there are many Dalaras fans out there who will love this CD, those looking for a recording in line with Dalaras' past work will be disappointed. This is a definate departure from anything...

5.0 out of 5 stars The sound of the Balkan region, February 1, 2006
This is an excellent album that blends the Slavian-gipsy culture with the Greek culture. Dalaras is a perfectionist in anything he does and this album is rendered in a unique masterful way. A good album to introduce you to a different kind of music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Balkan mystery, September 22, 1999

Balkan music is not that common. But it is really amazing! Combined with the perfect voice of George Dalaras, it's worth buying it!

This is a journey through heart pumping sound. The combination of Dallaras' voice, which captivates, with the energy of brass sound is uplifting and exhilarating. You'll find yourself moving and shaking, even if you know nothing about Greek or Balkan music. Let the rhythm of this c.d. take you on an energizing ride and feel the passion Dallaras and Bregovic give to their music!

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent blend, June 15, 2000
Yorgos & Goran @ their best! Croatian or Serbian speaking folks might consider listening to the original rendition of Arsen Dedic's "Don't Give Up Ana" (i.e., "Ne daj se Ines") by Rade Serbedzija....

Goran Bregovic and George Dalaras combine their musical talents to produce this fast paced yet smooth album. Even if you do not understand the lyrics, you will appreciate the music.

While I concede that there are many Dalaras fans out there who will love this CD, those looking for a recording in line with Dalaras' past work will be disappointed. This is a definate departure from anything Dalaras has done in the past. If you are looking for a rembetiko, or laiko tragoudi, look elsewhere, you won't find it on this CD. I've tried giving this CD away, but everyone keeps giving it back.
