A dark, haunting, and altogether mesmerizing collection of songs,
By Glen Zimmerman "RealMenDriveFords" (Lindenwold, New Jersey) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: They Call It An Accident (Audio Cassette)
Featuring original songs as well as some selections from then-recent albums by some of the artists, this is the soundtrack to the obscure 1982 French film "Ils appellent ca un accident" (which translates to "They Call It An Accident" in English). Almost everything is very synthesizer-heavy, but in a very bleak, sort of "out there" kind of way, with equally haunting vocals from Steve Winwood and Marianne Faithfull. The Winwood track "Your Silence Is Your Song," which is exclusive to the soundtrack, is especially good, and "Guilt" by Marianne Faithfull (originally from her '79 album Broken English) works especially well here. Along with some deep, dark instrumentals by prolific but underrated multi-instrumentalist Wally Badarou, and the unique instrumental "October" by the not-yet-world famous U2, this is one of the most solid, robust, and overall captivating sountrack albums you've (n)ever heard.
