I'm posting this review to the version that says 'WIDESCREEN' at the top and 'HEN'S TOOTH VIDEO' at the bottom, Amazon item B000QCU9IU. The video was high quality, some other reviewers reported low quality and gave this movie one star, but they were reviewing a different item. If you click on the review and then click on 'permalink' you can see what actual version they were reviewing.

They Call Me Trinity is a story of two outlaw brothers who pose as sheriff and deputy of a small town and end up saving some local Mormon farmers from the harassment of an evil Major and a Mexican bandit and his gang.
A spaghetti western classic to be sure, but it's different from the films that came before it-different in the fact that it's a bit more lighthearted and comical. I don't consider it so much of a spoof , but rather just a zanier version of the genre. It is a spaghetti western. Sure, the violence it a bit more toned down(the final battle isn't a shootout, but a huge brawl), but Trinity isn't above blowing someone away if he has to.
The Italian comic duo of Hill and Spencer is at a high point here. While I didn't find the film to be sidesplitting hilarious, it was a good story, and Hill and Spencer have some good chemistry. They ought to considering how many films they did together. I always thought of Hill as a kind of slapstick Franco Nero.
Many thought that this film brought on the death of the spaghetti western, much as in the way that people think that Abbott and Costello Meets Frankenstein was the death of the Universal horror films. I suppose that once a genre goes on long enough and starts making them into comedies to breathe new life into it, it's a sign of the end. The spaghetti western would get a mini revival a few years later, but whether or not Trinity was a last grasp at the genre, I think it ended up being very good. So did a few other folks coz they made a sequel.

This is an unauthorized pan and scan release of this film made from VHS tape. If you want a quality copy of this film buy the HEN'S TOOTH VIDEO edition. It costs more but it is authorized by the producer's estate and is made from an anamorphic 16x9 master with royalties paid to the actual copyright owners of the picture.

This is a spoof of the typical western movie where the good guy is the fastest gun. It pokes fun at these westerns in a good natured way. It is one of the few movies I can watch over and over. The movie is very funny. About 3/4 of the way into the movie, it gets a little slow, but the end makes up for it. You will enjoy this movie if you like westerns and comedy.

This review is for the Widescreen Digitally Remastered version by Hen's Tooth Video. It is a 1970 movie but it has the clarity and sound quality you would expect from a remastered to DVD movie. I experienced none of the poor quality video and bad sound other reviewers mentioned. I assume they got one from another company.

The wit and unexpected humor of "They Call Me Trinity" was sadly marred by poor color and audio, despite a strong plot and intriguing religious subtext.

Trinity is a fast, but relaxed gun fighter, and his brother is a lazy horse thief pretending to be a sheriff to hide his crimes. Both protect a community of Mormons (who act like Amish) who do not believe in violence.

Trinity is lot like Eastwood/Blondie in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, with a certain James Bond charm. He is not the usual brash gunman, but is twice and tough, and twice as sweet. A great character.

In the spaghetti western tradition, mimicking "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly," this film has all Italian cast. The dubbing didn't cut it, as it seemed imposed on the movie more than it was integrated.

I'd like to see the series remade. It is that much fun.

I recommend "They Call Me Trinity." The movie is funny, and worth renting, but buying it is only for the true fans of the genre.

This review is on the HENS TOOTH DVD.

The DVD is very, very bad. It may be a nice new colorful scan, but the company utilized a PAL digibeta (hence the French titles) and this results in the film being sped up by five minutes. This does not mean the film is cut, it's just the PAL speedup that makes it five minutes shorter because it's 25fps (albiet, with pulldown to 29fps). The release is also plagued with interlacing artifacts (no it's not a progressive video). Everything about it is just awful. Hopefully a "proper" release will come out soon. The only good thing about the release is the gallery and the clear English audio track.

The movie, however, is a hit! Terence Hill and Bud Spencer make a great duo and the score really brings the film together. It's a must see Spaghetti Western.

Hill`s character is called Trinity, the left hand of the devil. He and his brother are by far the fastest guns in the west in this
funny spoof of the old west. His brother is a not quite "hardened" outlaw and Trinity, while not completely opposed to being an
outlaw, is really too lazy and fun loving (his idea of fun is more than a little off the beaten path) to be much of anything
except a bum.
They run across a batch of pacifist farmers who are being victimized by real hardened outlaws, and somehow manage to become the
good guys of the film with plenty of laughs along the way. The plot is not that good and neither is the acting, but somehow that
just makes it that much more funny.
Definately a B movie, but a fun one.
