4.0 out of 5 stars Close but not quite, March 31, 2004

This review is from: They Came From Outer Space: The Alien Songbook (Audio CD)
This disc is a great disc of really funny songs. However, it suffers in two places.

The first is that the version of Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft (by Klaatu) is listed as the "Capitol single 4412" from 1977, but it's actually the LP version not the drastically different single version.

The second is that the version of StarDrek (by Bobby Pickett & Bobby Ferrara) is NOT the version that I used to hear on the Doctor Demento Show but a different recording. The name of the energy cloud has gone from space wedgie to space turkey, the voice of the elevator is not as good, and the bleach blonde in the red convertible has different lines altogether. Not to mention that the sound effects aren't as good.

Overall a great disc, and a wonderful addition to any collection. But look elsewhere for the proper versions of those two cuts.

Now, with the different versions that Buchanan and Goodman did of the Flying Saucer (Pts 1 & 2) 45 after their lawsuit before going on to more editions (as in Pt3), can anyone tell me if this is the original or the remake of the Pt1 & 2 tracks?
