I wasn't sure what to expect the first time I heard this CD, I was pleasantly surprised. Since then it's become one of my all time favorites. The lyrics are original, witty, and at the same time touching as they depict some of things we all experience in our lives. I have given this CD as gifts to my friends and family. I highly recommend.

A step down from the first CD,
By A Customer

The first CD by Meade Skelton was solid, considering that he was so young at the time. Some people complain about the production of this album, but I think it's the rawness of the first album that helps pushed that particular recording into excellence. This time around, with more keyboards and a glossier sound, it seems more pedestrian and stale than its predecessor. It sounds more like a colllection of songs, rather than an album; it lacks a certain consistent intent, and as a result, the final payoff is anti-climatic. Nevertheless, his vocal abilities still have much to admire, and I still think he has potential. Nevertheless, Buyer beware!

This Meade Skelton character produced another sup-par album. It wasn't technically as bad as his first, these songs aren't the classics that he butchered on his first album, but still musical atrocities.
Believe it or not, there is a ray of hope for this "singer", as bad as this album was, and it was very bad, on the title track, 'They Can't Keep Me Down', I detected a glimmer of talent. If he gets a voice coach, and works really hard, he might not be that bad, but he's pretty far away from being 'not bad' right now. I am glad there weren't any stalker songs on this one, like that Nicole Kidman song on the last one.

Man, am I impressed. This is a true work of art. There's no filler on this album, every track is a masterpiece. I'm sure who ever this Meade Skelton is, this guy has a voice and a talent for songwriting that is going to carry him far. Certainly refreshing to hear something Originial in the Pop and Country vein for a change. Much better than anything you'd hear on Pop and Country stations right now.

The wonderful thing about this CD is that thereare no two songs that sound alike. Each one is different and each one is delivered and performed differently. I like the themes too, they are familiar, yet not trite, and each song is very theatrical. Meade Skelton is truly a gifted performer and songwriter.

One of the best albums of the year!,

I can't believe that I enjoyed this album as much as I did. It's wonderful date music - women really love it. Meade Skelton is like Barry White for my generation. Seriously. You have to play this next time you have a girl over. Especially the track "They Called Me Porker".

For the sake of all that is holy, let's hope that "they" can keep Meade Skelton down.

Meade Skelton is one of the finest voices andwriters I have listened too. I was surprised to see he is not on a major label. My favorite tracks are "They Can't Keep Me Down" "Don't Rock This Boat", and the clever "Your Old Hay". Those tracks standout the most, although I must admit I do enjoy all of the songs on this Album. Most of the songs are plenty upbeat. Although there are some weepy tear jerkers, they are not bad either, just not my taste. His strongest asset is his powerful voice, and it's that kind of voice you just recognize right away, and never get sick of. Trust me. I played this on a recent car trip and my seven-year-old was actually entertained for once.

I picked up this CD for my wife actually- a Country Music Fan. But I was very pleased with it myself. I really like the way Meade sings on the Album. He has a very unique style of singing, and he can handle ballads as well as fast songs. My favorite track is definitely the title one "They Can't Keep Me Down". He certainly is not crooning this one- he belts it out with ferver. Meade has a voice that is fun to listen to- and I never get tired of it. There is plenty a good mix of Old and New Country to satisfy any taste. The only thing missing is the steel guitar and fiddle- but after all, this a more Alternative Country Album. I reccomend it for fans of Dwight Yoakam, Lyle Lovett, or even Elton John. You won't be dissapointed

I love all kinds of music, especially Country, but whenI heard Meade Skelton sing on this CD, I knew he was not simply just a Country Artist- he's a true vocalist. The songs are delivered in a very convincing, almost theatrical way, and there is plenty of emotion to set the scene. Yet unlike other vocalists, Skelton never seems to just belt out every song- he knows how to interpet it! His songs are written cleverly. The lyrics although |
