Book Description

When one of her college boyfriends ended up becoming a movie star, Anna David became fixated on finding another famous boyfriend. But jobs at celebrity magazines and intimate encounters with boldfaced names ultimately left her clear that no red carpet embrace or award show acknowledgment would bring her what she was ultimately seeking. The novelist, memoirist and author of the best-selling Kindle Single Animal Attraction examines our society’s relationship with fame from one of its most obsessive perspectives: her own.

5.0 out of 5 stars I really like Anna David's Writing February 12, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I just figured out that Anna David wrote a new Kindle Single! She is my favorite author and I just had to read it. This new Single called "They Really Like Me" is another awesome read by the Amazing Anna David!
One of the many things I love about Ms. David's writing is that she is able to take a subject, and use her prose to cut through the topic to the heart of the matter.

In this case, "They Really Like Me" its about celebrities and people who get to associate with them. Her quote "the proximity to fame" !

"They Really Like Me" explores some of the experiences that people encounter when they are around celebrities. But Anna's writing took this to an even deeper level. It helped me realize that this happens with other aspects of our lives.

Celebrity proximity can be very similar to our desires to hang out with the popular kids at school. The movers and shakers at the office. The cool people who live in your apartment building. The cool guys who hang out at the local club.

Celebrity is just one of those categories. I have had the chance to meet one celebrity twice and those two days were two of the most amazing days of my life. To meet this person in the simple meet and greet after a live performance was very memorable for me personally. I felt like this person "Really Liked Me, Too" !

After reading Anna's new Kindle single, once again I think she gets "it" ! Anna takes a topic like this and puts into words that speaks to me and helps me relate to something in my personal life.

I want to urge everyone to buy this new single, its a great read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Anna David bares another piece of her soul February 18, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Like her earlier book, Falling For Me, Anna David exposes herself to her readers in a humorous way. Even if you have never experienced the "proximity to fame", you feel for her because at some point in your life, somebody treated you the way the celebs in her story treated her. You never get the sense that's she bragging about her brushes with celebrity, but you certainly feel for her. My only complaint was that the book was so short!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fast and Entertaining Read February 17, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I loved Anna's most recent E-single Animal Attraction, but this is probably my favorite so far. Her celebrity obsession is not uncommon in pop culture, but the effort she undertakes to meet these celebrities is truly hilarious. Not only that, but the lessons she learns along the way are ones that everyone can relate to. Unquestionably worth the 30 minutes of your time!

1.0 out of 5 stars Confessions of a shallow egomaniac June 15, 2013
By Kam
Format:Kindle Edition
If you like stories about disturbed starf#%&ers you might like this. It's short. It seems that this woman's whole life is defined by having dated Matt Damon way back in college. After she breaks up with Damon before he was famous (Damon would probably be thankful to not have this mess of a woman at this point in his life), she starts writing for entertainment publications to try to snag herself another famous person. She writes about her exploits about trying to snag someone else in the limelight. She comes off as grandiose and shallow, and the way she measures the worth of a person Los Angeles.

Borrowed from Amazon Prime lending program.

5.0 out of 5 stars I like her. I REALLY like her. March 15, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Mainly, Miss Anna David's telling of her Hollywood misadventures feels honest, which makes for a disarmingly smart and funny read.

One of my favorite lines:

"Being around fame isn't going to fix you," she says. "It's not going to even put a Band-Aid on what's wrong."

I am in the bemusing position of reviewing a book about why people value celebrity. And of course I am reading this single because celebrity fascinates me. This single provides a closer look into the machine that fills the great American celebrity need. Most attractive to me is David's willingness to reveal her own lust for that time in the spotlight and the lengths to which she was prepared to go. So often these memoirs are disingenuous in their protests that fame was a secondary gain for their other deeper and more attractive motivations. So this book fills a great niche. And it is fun to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Anna's journey into celebrity greatness February 16, 2013
By MikeG
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Anna David is back, and this time, she is navigating her way into the world of celebrity. "They Like Me... The Really Like Me" is one of Anna's best works.

Anna's last release "Falling For Me" was a journey into her life and she follows it up very nicely in "They Like Me". Anna has a very conversational and natural style to her writing. She also has no problems poking a little fun in her own direction, while presenting some really fascinating stories.

You'll see her hits and misses of her journey, and you'll get a front row seat for all of it.

Very Highly Recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars great! but a little light on the details
It would have been nice if she had dropped a few more names. It was definitely noticeable to a point of distraction. That being said, I enjoyed the introspective point of view.

4.0 out of 5 stars Funny
It's really much more of a beach reading, and I put a 4 starts because I was not expecting more. Funny and entertaining, don't expect deep analysis or anything close to an essay.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK
This book was interesting but not a mystery which is my preferred type of book. I didn't really relate to the characters so the book didn't hold my attention very well.
