Progressive in every sense,
By Vaansen (Minneapolis, MN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: They Live On The Sun (Audio CD)
I would recommend the album for anyone really interested in truly innovative, independant music. The styles of the music are varied; chances are if you like some songs a lot, you will dislike a few others. However, the stuff in the album is original in every sense and conveys an emotional depth you are not likely to find elsewhere. Most, if not all, of the songs on the album were inspired by the death of the lead singer and writer's two-year-old son and it is a beautiful tribute to him. It is difficult to think of something to compare the music to. If you like tuning in to college radio stations, you will probably love the album. While a few tracks may be a bit weak, overall it's well-worth the money spent. If not for any other reason, the fact that the label, Earthology records, is the only non-profit record label on the planet that donates every penny of its profits to environmental organizations.

Start with another Cloud Cult album,

This album is definitely not where you want to start if you're new to Cloud Cult. Start with Advice From The Happy Hippopotamus and move onto their other albums before going to this one. There are a couple good songs, but as much as I love Cloud Cult, this album feels self-indulgent compared to The Meaning of 8, Light Chasers and Advice...
