Great Resource,

I am in the process of writing my dissertation and this book has been a great help in improving both the flow of my argument and the style of my writing. Simple measures to avoid using redundant phrases such as, "According to___________" which get boring after awhile. I highly reccomend it to writers at all levels.

A must have for anyone who needs to write an effective essay!,

This simply stated reference book gives details in concise writing techniques that I used from the first time I opened the book! My collegiate career would have been easier if I'd had this before I became a senior - what an awesome find - recommended by a peer.

ON TARGET,
This review is from: "They Say / I Say": The Moves that Matter in Persuasive Writing (Hardcover)
I was amazed seeing this book. It gets to the heart of crafting sharp, insightful essays. No fooling around. If my students would make these moves, they'd be way out in front. As teachers, our major challenge is finding ways to have students practice these techniques.[P.S. - my book (noted) shows effective forms for quoting in its final essay.] Sunlight From Another Day: Poems In and Out of the Body

Outstanding!,

What a great resource for writers this is! The templates that the authors provide are wonderful tools. At first, I thought they would simply help me structure my essays- a great help in itself. Then, I quickly realized that the templates also help me think about the problem I'm working on by providing a guideline for asking the right questions. After that, the different pieces of the argument fall into place on their own (well, more or less!) Like anything else, it is a technique that requires practice but I did notice an improvement in my writing right away.I also find that the book's format and price take into account the needs of students: it is inexpensive as well as light and compact. It looks like the authors are not only brilliant but that they are considerate, too.

The book was in awesome condition. I was glad to buy it because it was cheaper than my school's bookstore. I would definitely recommend the seller of this book for any other books they happen to sell.

I bought this book for my English class. Does have some good stories and writing tips, but not actually useful. Okay if you're a writer. Buy the St. Martin's handbook....way more useful.
