About the Author
B. David Mann was born into a VMI family in Bluefield, WV - his father was a graduate of the Class of 1914, his uncle a graduate in 1921. Mann never considered any other college. Like his 1861 contemporaries, his education was interupted by war. He ultimately graduated in 1949 after his service in the Pacific Theater in WWII. In 1950 he was recalled to active service for participation in the Korean Conflict. Following this he began a 30 year career as a college development officer in five private Virginia colleges. Mr. Mann died just before the book became available.
