Book Description

9 and up4 and up
Soldiers, firefighters, and rescue workers can all be heroes. But did you know that throughout history, dogs have been heroes, too? Readers will meet Stubby, the first American "war dog" hero; Aron, who sacrificed himself to protect his police-officer partner in a shooting; Bridget, a search-and-rescue dog who saved a woman buried for five days by an avalanche; and Dorado, who bravely led his blind owner down seventy flights of stairs to escape the World Trade Center. These and many other remarkable dogs are genuine, but often forgotten heroes. Here are their amazing true stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars THEY TOO WERE HEROES, April 17, 2009
A Kid's Review
This review is from: They Too Were Heroes (Paperback)
This book is about dogs saving lives and how they survive or die.
My favorite part was when they save their partners.I recommend this book to ages 7-up. when I finished this book I thought about In real life, how much dogs died In the army. But some didn't they just got hurt. Some dogs saved their partners by barking. Long ago they didn't allow dogs to fight in the army. But in the book someone took a dog and one that dog saved some lives.
Will the dogs survive the smoke bombs,
bombs, and shooting?
