Better Stuff This Time Around,
By
This review is from: They're Only Chasing Safety (Audio CD)
The new stuff on this cd is very good. You get "I've got 10 Friends" and some other remixes/alternative takes of songs all ready on the album. You get the bonus dvd which is the main thing you should be buying this album for. It has a crap load of features from like every tour they have been on for the past year, and it has them doing a bunch of stupid stuff. I respect these guys even more, watching their dvd, and understanding more about their faith. I give it 4.5 stars because it is still a cd that is all ready been out, and the last three songs, aren't exactly new songs. I've seen this band live once and I'm going to see them again in a month, and they are great live. To that dude below me a couple of reviews, dude chill out and quit complaining. I have been waiting for their new cd since Their Only Chasing Safety came out and I listened to it hundreds of times. I'm sure all the fans are very anxious about hearing the new cd, but give it time. If they rushed into the studio, then the new record would not be as good, and then you would complain about how much it sucks. So do what the rest of us are doing and wait until the new album comes out in spring. For now, enjoy the extra stuff and quit acting like a spoiled brat, who gets whatever they want. The band does not revolve around what you want, they are their own individuals, let the artist decide when to be ready to make the new album. It's people like you who piss me off.

Underoath at its greatist (w/o dallas),

There is no band out there like Underoath, plain and simple. They like to reinforce this obviously with this release. Now, some people might be confused/mad/scared/depressed ect..when they find out how familiar the new songs are. 10 friends was leak a long time ago and the others are just "remixes", if you will, to other songs on the album. The real jem on this CD is the hours of footage of Underoath and their concerts. For me, it's worth getting the S.E. just for this. Any hardcore or screamo fan should get this CD, ESPECAILY if you don't have the orignial.

Great CD,

While this CD is technically old material, it's still great. I never actually owned the original, just borrowed it a lot, so I went ahead and picked the new version up. The bonus tracks aren't really worth the money if you have the original, though the DVD might be. Underoath is a very talented band and manages to put out unique and accomplished music in an overdone genre. For everyone complaining about double dipping and all that crap, if you have the original and don't care about the DVD, then just DON'T BUY this CD! It's that simple. Stop whining and complaining, you have the choice to but this CD or not, that's how capitalism works

bought the original and the re-issue,

Sure buying the same CD twice isn't that smart, but my original is so messed up from listening to it so much. Every song is amazing, so intense with great lyrics. If you've heard the album before you should still get it "I Got 10 Friends and a Crowbar that says You Ain't gonna do Jack" makes it worth it, alone. "The 80's Song" is the demo version of "It's Dangerous Business Walking Out your Front Door" and "You're So Intricate" is the demo version of "I'm Content with Losing" and "SmcTague" is the instrumental of "Some will seek Forgiveness, Others Escape" plus it came with a hilarious and interesting DVD. Worth the 15 bucks all over again.

Good Buy... Unless you own the original,

Is it me or are "You're So Intricate" and "The 80's Song" the same as "I'm Content With Losing" and "It's Dangerous Business Walking Out Your Front Door", respectively?
The only new songs on here are "Smic Tague" and "I've Got 10 Friends and A Crowbar That Say You Ain't Gonna Do Jack". Only buy this if you don't own the original. Or if you're completely obsessed with Underoath in a abnormal way, then you can buy it. However, It's a great album, and if you're a fan of the screamo genre you'll enjoy them.

Very good screamo album,

This album has a lot of high energy songs that are very memorable and catchy. The dvd that comes with it is a cool look at the band. The bonus tracks arent really that great, they are just songs on the album with different names and minor differences. I wouldnt buy this special edition if you already have the orignal album, its not really worth it. If you have a choice between the two though, i would buy this one because you get the dvd as well as the cd.
Don't write this band off because they have christian ideas in their music. They are one of the best screamo acts in my opinion.

Make this short and sweet,

This review is from: They're Only Chasing Safety (Audio CD)
The original version of this cd was amazing, 5 stars. This version however you're only getting 1 new song(which if you were like me, you could've gotten for $5 on a smart punk comp at Warped tour 04, but probably didn't) 3 mis-titled demo songs(they are not NEW, just demos of stuff already on the original version) and a very un-informative dvd with horrible live footage(it's all montages). The only reason anyone would buy this is if they are looking for a good underoath live DVD(they are amazing live) or if they want to drool over Aaron Gillespe like the 14 year old teeny boppers they are(who are most likely the people who will vote this review not helpful).
~~~~~~~~~However, if you are buying this because you didn't get to buy the original, it's a good buy, other than that, it's a marketing ploy to move more units for Solid State.
Excellent Album,
This us Underoath's 2nd album, and an excellent one at that. The only brand new song is Ten Friends and a Crowbar, and the other songs 3 are demos of other songs on the cd. The album art is a lot cooler than the original version, and there is a dvd with bonus stuff (I haven't watched the dvd yet, too busy listening to the cd haha). Definately worth your money!
Super amazing hardcore from the uber talented UNDEROATH!,
By
This review is from: They're Only Chasing Safety (Audio CD)
Ok so there is an obviously overwhelming surge of emo / hardcore / pop bands flooding the scene lately. And due to this flood of rather generic material, most bands have trouble finding their own definition or sound, simply because there's a real dry spell of originality. Underoath have taken their metalcore roots and extracted the energy and intensity as well as the heaviness, but added a much more poppy sound, which can be predictable, but is certainly welcomed when performed at this tier. Brilliant choruses, catchy without being predictable, and intense without being too hard: this band defines a good blend of hardcore and pop.
The CD is filled with heavy, pummeling guitars and riffs, with showered pop choruses and breakdowns. Perfect, honestly, for fans of hardcore who enjoy singing. Not to mention the guest vocals from Aaron of Copeland on the last track.. Flatly and plainly, if you like hardcore and pop together, you will love this disc, and probably worship Underoath for putting out exactly what you wanted to hear. And while it's not necessarily suprising how "They're Only Chasing Safety" sounds, it's certainly an amazing record, flat out.
Dude below me should shhhhh...,
This review is from: They're Only Chasing Safety (Audio CD)
This cd is really great. I have every single Underoath cd released and this is just different. Big deal, there is only 1 original member in the band and that is Aaron so of course they are gonna play something different. This cd does not deserve a one star rating by any means. The guitar work on this cd is not really amazing by any means but it is different than a lot of other bands guitar work. The way they make this cd accessible to people who like heavy music and people who like dashboard or emo is awesome. There need to be more bands like this who can split the genre and make their music accessible to lots of people
