5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to assemble and cover
This was an extremely easy foundation to assemble. Be careful about pulling the drawstring that tightens the cover. I pulled it a little too hard and caused some slight damaged, but it definitely wasn't a design or manufacturing defect--I just tightened a little overzealously. At any rate, everything was still in fine working order. I don't even have my bedroom suite yet,...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money
When we opened this, I thought we had mistakenly bought something from IKEA. This is by far, the cheapest made bed foundation I've seen. The knotty pine was warped and while it does have 12 cross boards, it only comes with 6 screws. As recommended by others, wee bought extra wood screws and put a total of 24 screws in. Each screw we put in, put a crack in the boards...

Great price compared to other places I found, and with free shipping! Got here much faster than I thought it would. Would buy again. I got the king size.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, December 26, 2010

Ok so this is an interesting concept. First, my husband and I argued as to whether or not the box could possibly have a box springs in it - he said no way and I told him that it was. We opened the box to find that "some assembly is required." The assembly is very easy. It took us less than 30 minutes for sure. I think a few more screws in the slats would have been much better and I would recommend that to the company - it's a little cheap feeling as is, but that is not a big deal. Anyway, we got to the part where we were supposed to put the cover over the wood frame and I was a little disappointed by the fact that our cover was a little big - didn't fit quite right and so the whole thing looked a little "home-made" if you know what I mean. We went ahead and used it and got no complaints from our guests, so with a bedskirt or long bedspread it works fine. If you need a king size box springs, you want it shipped to you, you don't want to pay a lot, and no one is going to see it I would recommend this item. It met our needs so I am giving it four stars. I took one away because it does appear a little "home-made" to me and a few more screws would have improved the quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars King wood box foundation, December 15, 2010

This product came promptly, assembled fairly easily with two tools. I read the directions and followed them. As a 65yr old female, I thought it was fairly easy. I only needed assistance putting on the slats because they were all strung together and rather unwieldy for one person. After this assembly, I ordered a second frame for my other memory foam mattress. Now the bed height is just right.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, December 13, 2010

This product is exactly what your looking for. King size box springs are a pain in the butt to move. You usually have to go with two extra long twin box springs. This product is as described. You can put it together in 10 minutes and when complete it is as sturdy or more so than any box spring. Its also easy to take apart when moving again.

Fast and easy setup. Wrench is included if you don't have tools. Cordless drill made quick work of the 6 screws that secure the slats. It took me about 10 min from start to finish. This was a much cheaper way to go than buying from our local store, and just as good.

Let me first address the prior negative reviews that I read (and still decided to purchase anyway - which I'm glad that I did):

1. It is not squeaky at all if assembled properly. Hammer in the bolts and tighten firmly with a ratchet but do not over tighten. Tighten all 4 corners simultaneously and not one to full-tightness at a time.

2. The wood's condition is not that poor, but does have room for improvement. Yes, for the price, it could be sanded. However, it is plenty strong in the support department if assembled correctly.

3. Yes the price is a tad high for what you get. But I'm willing to bet that the price you pay for store-bought boxsprings is far more marked up than this product. Tear off their covers, and see what you're buying. This product should be about $50-$75 cheaper IMO. Store bought boxsprings should be >$100 cheaper, at least, for what you're getting.

4. The cover is tight enough with the drawstring that it does not affect any "performance" issues. If you are that picky, buy some small nails to drive in every foot or so on the underside of the railing to tighten even further.

5. If you tighten your extra screws where there is no pre-drilled holes too tight or too close to the end of the planks, they will split a bit. Get some extra flat head wood screws (1") and carefully secure the planks.

6. If your middle support beam doesn't touch the floor... FLIP IT OVER. You're not assembling properly and this is YOUR fault, not the product.

7. If your corners do not fit properly, SWITCH SIDES or FLIP THEM until they fit in the best possible manner. This product was constructed well enough that you can tell they spot tested the fittings to above satisfactory levels.

... That should alleviate any concerns about buying this product. 4 stars for design, support, assembly. -1 star for price being a bit high and B grade wood condition. That's it. Cheaper foundation that store bought and you'd never know the difference. Plus, you can assemble / disassemble on the fly which is handy to move it in and out of homes where stairways to master bedrooms are narrow and short on height clearance.

Buy it.

Save your money and buy something at Costco or a bedding store.

This will Support any memory foam mattress, or a regular matttress! It is made of good quility wood, and it will be the last foundation you will ever need to buy! I was a little concerned when the item arrived, as the box was damaged and open on one end. It was complete, however, and intact so I assembled it.

I had no issues assembling it with the included hardware. I ended up making a modification though; they only include 6 screws to secure the slats on center and ends. The other slats rattle around loosely and are held only by a ribbon. I was sure this would be noisy or prone to slipping out, so I purchased a box of 1" wood screws and some wood glue and secured all the slats.

Some have commented on the cover fitting loosely - I was prepared to staple it down but it worked out to our satisfaction with the draw string.

Overall I am happy with the purchase for the price!
