As a child, KATE O'DONNELL spend summers at her grandparents' estate in Brands Crossing where she and her girl cousins battle make-believe monsters, rescue endangered victims and a save a mythical kingdom. At twenty-five Kate is a singer/songwriter living in Nashville and pursuing a promising relationship with computer game designer PHILLIP NORWOOD. There, her only battles are fought in Aidenne's Revenge, Phillip's online fantasy game based on her childhood adventures. With her grandfather's sudden death from injuries he sustained in a suspicious car crash, Kate is forced to make a choice. Will she remain in Nashville to focus on Phillip and her music career? Or will she move back to Brands Crossing and honor the promise she made to her grandfather that she would investigate the mystery surrounding his death? Family trumps career and romance and Kate heads back to Texas where the monsters, victims and endangered kingdoms are all too real. In an attempt to protect Kate from danger, Phillip joins her quest and helps her search for incriminating documents, investigate a centuries-old family feud and confront an anonymous rose-bearing admirer who stalks Kate in both real and virtual universes.

Review

Once  you've visited Brands Crossing in Sharon K. Owen's terrific romantic
suspense novel, Thicker Than Water, you'll want to visit the colorful Texas town's
full-bodied setting and artfully developed history and characters again and

romance. Generations of family secrets and feuds colliding in the present make
the Brands Crossing suspense series a must-stop on your reading journey.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kick-ass Kate and more July 17, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Sharon K. Owen's Thicker Than Water, the first in her Brands Crossing Series, introduces us to a feisty heroine and plenty of family intrigue. You'll be caught up in the adventure, mystery, and then will stop and enjoy a cup of tea with Kate's grandmother, Belle. Owen's writing is delightful. Her characters' voices shine through with humor, love, and typical human confusion. Thicker Than Water is well paced, and you'll want to kick back with Kate's family and friends at the old Texas homestead. The mystery will keep you guessing and the conclusion will satisfy. Then you'll be clamoring for more from Ms.Owen. We can only hope she's busy writing additional Kate adventures.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crisp mystery with authentic characters December 26, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Thicker Than Water is a well-crafted novel with thoroughly developed characters. The plot entertains as it moves along. We follow Kate through her music career, her on-line gaming, her romances and her quest for the truth about a family tragedy. Scenes and characters are so well developed that I felt like I was in Brand's Crossing. I really liked this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Loved the style January 24, 2013
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I think the content and writing style of this book are excellent. However, there are a lot of small mistakes, like using to instead of too. Once Mick is called Mitch. There are places where there are quotation marks and no quote. There are lines where there are extra words that don't belong, like one sentence that said something like You your parents.
Maybe this is picky but it's a pet peeve. Because I think this author is very good I would recommend having at least 3 people read the books before publishing and mark mistakes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Loved it.
I loved the book. Nice pace, interesting people, and decent mistery.
Has a Nora Roberts style without the dragginess and people saying obvious things aloud all the time :)
