After years in prison, a professional thief who was despoiled by his unfaithful wife seeks bloody revenge.For him, stealing is a legal act, because it relieves the exploiters partly of their culpability. This book hovers on the brink of unlikelihood (choosing the wrong victim) and navigates on exaggerated emotions. It doesn't have the high standard of other books of Mahfouz, like `Miramar' or `The journey of Ibn Fattouma.' Only for Mahfouz fans. |
