3.0 out of 5 stars Quick collection of reads... March 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my review.

I am not normally a fan of Science Fiction, I only began reading it when I started reviewing books for Bookrooster.com. I have however come to enjoy the genre. This is a collection of Fantasy, Science Fiction and Thriller stories. I can't say that I loved the book as a whole. I think it was ok, it was obviously written by an aspiring writer, and as such I think he did a fine job. I do however think that with hard work and experience his writing will be honed and he will grow into a more developed writer.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Sci Fi short stories.

4.0 out of 5 stars Artful & engaging blend of genres March 24, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
It takes a talented writer to create stories in three genres: fantasy, science-fiction and thriller. Although I've read very little in the first two, the title grabbed me right away, as did the voice in the title story. Through the eight stories, the author takes us on a ride through time, insomnia, Facebook, the end of the world, and more. My favorites are THE THIEF OF SLEEP and OTHRSIDE. I was also intrigued by the writer's exploration of the dark possibilities of Facebook, and DON'T GO BACK was a mind-bending trip back in time. OTHRSIDE is a creepy blend of technology with the supernatural, and follows me still, taunting my mind with -- what if?

The writing is engaging and thought-provoking while entertaining with chills and smiles, which is quite a feat for a collection of short stories. If you want to taste some new genres, and be introduced to a fresh voice, I definitely recommend this collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this collection of short stories! December 30, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I very much enjoyed this collection of short stories. It is evident that the author also enjoys short stories too and not just because he said so. I can see his enjoyment in the writing. I feel that each story was complete although the author could expand a couple of them if he so choses to do in the future as so many authors do.

I liked some of the stories more than others. But all would receive at the least 4 stars from me for the writing style. I felt like I was able to get a decent character development of the main character in each of the stories. Many short stories lack that. I was able to see the difference of a English(Scot) author compared to the American although that subtle and took me a couple of stories to catch on more likely because so many American authors copy British words like flat and bloody. Where the difference was apparent where in this collection the terrorist on the door step was a couple of the stories background. Americans suffered a great tradegy in 2001 and I still look up when I hear a jet flying over head but the Britains suffered it much closer to home with it being in the very streets. Before I get any comments I am not discounting what New York City suffered because that was very much in their streets, just not in mine or most of the rest of the USA.

Enough about my thoughts. Just suffice to say that I was glad I received a complimentary copy of this book in order to review it. I look forward to finding more work by this author.
