About the Author

He is the author of the award-winning book Wine Hunter, and a wine columnist at The Bulletin and Gourmet Traveller WINE. For the past nine years he has been the publisher of The Wine Front site. Campbell lives in Porepunkah, Australia.

Full disclosure. I'm Australian. The author clearly has a bone to pick with the French... The book still makes for delightful reading, with a veritable treasure trove of detail about many Australian and several New Zealand wines and wine-making regions. Interesting historical tid-bits about the Oz-NZ wine industries and players. One claim stood out to me: That Australia has the world's oldest vines. Fascinating claim backed with historical why. The only downside was the sense that Mattinson tried to put too much variety into this particular bottle of plonk!
