The Greats of Gilman,
By Eleanor "Slamdancing Rude Girl" (Bangor, ME) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Thing That Ate Floyd (Audio CD)
This two disk set includes over 30 tracks of punk from the late eighties East Bay California punk scene. It's got a few gems on it that are hard to find tracks, some of my favorites include; "Abandoned Beer Messiah," "Hangin' Out," "29," "Andorra," and "Summertime." There's a lot of other goodt tracks too though. Some of them were a little to "experimental" for me, like "Bananas Smell Funny Sonata in G." It's a kind of cool song, but mostly just leaves me wondering what the hell was going on when they wrote it...I've had this compilation for a few years now, and sometimes I go though months without touching it, and other times I'll listen to it a lot. Mostly I listen to it in the car, where I can easily skip through and only listen to about a dozen songs between the two disks. Only once in a while do I listen to the whole thing through. It's not really a favorite out of my collection, but I'm still really glad I have it.

Floyd,

This is a good album if you are still relatively new to the whole gilman street punk scene. It introduced me to some really cool bands.
