Thing a week four by Jonathan Coulton is an enjoyable and interesting CD which combines clever lyrics with catchy tunes that once listened to, you will find hard to get out of your head. The CD has a few well known songs of his on, like "Creepy Doll" and a few songs which i have never heard outside of this album which are really good. It's worth the money to buy if you enjoy his music. Jo Co is a very good song writer and worth listening to for something that is a bit different. For more of his up to date songs it is worth checking out his new album, "Artificial Heart" which has the songs from Portal and Portal 2.

If Jonathan Coulton were an animal like the ones he sings about, he would be on the endangered species list. While I have heard others compare him to Cake or They Might Be Giants, I find any comparison to another artist to fall flat. "JoCo" writes about geeky things like robots, monkeys, and zombies. But he also writes songs about middle class angst, fatherhood, and alienation. And what really sets him apart is that regardless of what he's writing about, the songs are filled with heart. So much heart, in fact, that I often find myself moved to an emotional response during some silly song I should be (and am) laughing at.
All of the "Thing a Week" albums are fantastic, but this one is really the pinnacle. I think JoCo had conjured a tremendous amount of "Song Fu" in the first three releases, and this one is truly the work of a master. From the ridiculous (Under the Pines) to the sublime (I'm Your Moon), this album is beautiful, longing, absurd, funny, and heartbreaking. What more could you possibly want?

I found this guy by listening to [...]. Started with hearing one song and then actually made a special station on Pandora to hear more. I then put all his stuff on my amazon wish list for christmas. I ended up with Thing A Week Four, and I love every song on it. If you like Cake, Barenaked Ladies, or anything like that, you will really like this guy. The music is very easy to listen to and the lyrics are great, both funny and kinda thought provoking. For example, on Four, there is a song called Seahorse. Its about just that....a seahorse (in love, no less). How many songs are there about a seahorse? And I had no idea what shopping at skymall was, until I saw a movie and some lady was actually reading the "skymall" mag on the airplane. Jonathan Coulton is actually expanding my horizons. I will eventually get all his cd's because I love this kind of music.
