Book Description

August 1, 2006
Kane's unique style and social conscience is apparent throughout his work and gives the book it's soul. Each sobering chapter offers readers an informative, straightforward look into the current state of Black America. Kane teaches readers the must do's while masterfully explaining the must not do's. African-American women will equally learn, benefit and enjoy knowing their man's mindset, agenda and aspirations, as well as the role she'll play in his future. Ten Things Every Black Man Must Do Before He Dies is bold, funny, cynical and downright honest.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Must Do Situation, February 20, 2007
This review is from: Ten Things Every Black Man Must Do Before He Dies (Paperback)
Author Julius Kane has taken the time to school Black Men and inform Black women about the things every Black man must do before he dies. The rules for engagement are very simple to follow and are a lot of common sense. This sometimes very funny, very true book spoke volumes to me as a woman, giving me the opportunity to share author Kane's views with some men in my life. These rules are simple:

10. Be a Man, Stand up for Something!

9. Travel - Broaden Your Horizons

8. Get a White Woman (yes y'all he said it!)

7. Do You!

6. Say What's on Your Mind and in Your Heart

5. Revenge (payback for real)

4. Fall in love - Get married - Have children

3. Help Your Brother

2. Spirituality

1. Achievement and Accomplishment

What I loved about this book is how author Kane speaks about the women in a Black man's life and how she should be treated. He also admonished the men to take care of their woman on every level and in every aspect, especially and in particular her sexual health. A lot was shared here and I appreciate the approach that was taken on getting the message across of the importance of doing these ten things. Now I can't say that I agree with them all, but I commend author Kane for putting it out there for what it is for Black men and women. I would recommend this book to every Black person just to get another view and level of responsibility and accountability.
