4.0 out of 5 stars A good book appealling to the inquiring mind of any child., October 19, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: 101 Things Every Kid Should Know About Science (Paperback)
This is a good book for 3rd - 7th graders because its "strange but true" tidbit-based approach will appeal to any curious mind. What is particularly nice about the book is that it is NOT a haphazardly arranged collection of factoids, as so many kids science books are. Beres' book may provide information in small chunks, but the chunks build on one another, so after reading a chapter full of them you emerge with an understanding of the overall shape of earth science, for instance, or biology. It certainly isn't a textbook, but it will get readers interested in the way the world works and how scientists go about discovering those workings.
