From the Back Cover

In many TV shows, the characters move from partner to partner, making sex the be-all and end-all of the male-female relationship. In many magazines, the advertised topics are centered on sex--good sex, better sex, more sex. The entertainment shows are focused on who's having sex with who. Sex, sex, sex. It's everywhere! The only thing that seems to be a definite is that people are trying to find happiness through sexual relationships.God created sex for a specific purpose--and created it good. The Bible candidly deals with sex--more so than many modern sex manuals!--and 60 Things God Said abut Sex is forthright in presenting the biblical view of sex as a gift from God, its intended use, and the spiritual parallel of a husband and wife's sexual union as a symbol of the sacred consummation of Christ and His bride, the church. In this straightforward explanation, Lester Sumrall will show you that the best way to have sex is God's way. This book is perfect for couples about to get married, parents who think it's about time to have "that talk" with their child, or anyone who finds that the world's view of sex isn't all it's cracked up to be.

About the Author

Lester Sumrall (1913-1996), world-renowned pastor and evangelist entered full-time service for God after experiencing what he recalls as the most dramatic and significant thing that ever happened to him. At the age of 17, as he lay on a deathbed suffering from tuberculosis, he received a vision: suspended in midair to the right of his bed was a casket; on his left was a large open Bible. He heard these words: "Lester, which of these will you choose tonight?" He made his decision: he would preach the Gospel as long as he lived. When he awoke the next morning, he was completely healed. Dr. Sumrall ministered in more than 110 countries, including Soviet Siberia, Russia, Tibet, and China. He established Feed the Hungry in 1987. In addition, he wrote over 130 books. His evangelistic association (LeSEA), headquartered in South Bend, Indiana, is still actively spreading God's Word. Dr. Sumrall's goal was to win 1,000,000 souls for the kingdom of God, and the ministry continues this vision. LeSEA ministry includes such outreaches as the World Harvest Bible College, radio and television stations, a teaching tape ministry, and numerous publications.

More About the Author

Dr. Lester Sumrall was a pastor, evangelist, and missionary statesman. He is considered one of the great 20th century ministers of the gospel. The vast wealth of topics in his writings range from the basics of Christianity--salvation, faith, healing, love, the miracles of Jesus and the Holy Spirit--to the more complicated and sometimes controversial topics of demons, deliverance, the dispensations, prosperity and immortality. Dr. Sumrall's deep conviction for the truth has made his writings relevant for every generation.

Born to Betty and George Sumrall of New Orleans on February 15, 1913, Lester Frank Sumrall showed early in life the resourcefulness which characterized his life and activity in the ministry of the gospel. Much of his schooling was at Laurel, Mississippi and Mobile, Alabama.

Lester lived the normal life of boys his age, attended church but did not pay much attention to religion . . . until his seventeenth year. At the age of sixteen he was afflicted with tuberculosis in both lungs and for six months lay in bed. One somber day in the fall of 1930 the doctor declared he would soon die. That night, Lester saw a vision of an open casket on one side of his bed and an open Bible on the other. A voice warned him, "You must choose." He responded, "God, if the only way for me to live is to preach--I'll preach." Almost immediately he fell asleep and when he awakened in the morning he was perfectly well. It was only three weeks later that Lester left home to begin the preaching ministry that would take him to more than 110 countries of the world and lead him to write more than 130 books and study guides.

Early in his ministry Lester preached mainly in the southeastern United States, his first sermon being in a little country school house just fifty miles from home. Really, the main reason he preached during those early years was to keep from dying. But eighteen months after leaving home God dramatically changed both his heart and ministry.

One evening at a church in the Tennessee countryside Lester had a second vision. Suddenly becoming unaware of his surroundings, Lester saw before him the people of the world. They were wearing their native clothing and were of every shade of humanity. The people were walking down a long and wide highway, one that ended abruptly at a precipice towering above a bottomless inferno. In Lester's own words: "As they neared the pit and saw the fate that awaited them, I could see their desperate but vain struggle to push back against the unrelenting pressure of those to the rear. The great surging river of humanity swept them ever forward. God opened my ears to hear the screams of damned souls sinking into hell . . . their hands flailed wildly clawing at the air."

It was then that God spoke. "You are responsible for these who are lost." "No, not me, Lord," Lester replied. "I do not know these people. I have never been to Japan, or China, or India; I am not to blame." Quoting Ezekiel 3:18, God assured him that he would be held accountable. When the vision was over he realized that the church service had ended and everyone had left. But Lester's heart would be changed forever. Having a newfound love for the lost, it became his mission to preach the gospel message to the nations of the world. He went to many countries as a missionary, even recognizing some of the faces he saw in the vision.

Dr. Lester Sumrall passed away on April 28, 1996, but he left behind a legacy and ministry that reaches forward with the gospel more than ever. With the desire to reach a million people for Christ everyday, he founded the Lester Sumrall Evangelistic Association (LeSEA) in 1957, LeSEA Broadcasting in 1968, and LeSEA Global Feed The Hungry® in 1987. These ministries are still thriving today. His publications, which include over eighty books and more than fifty study guides, are an important part in reaching the untold billions yet untold.

I have to say this was by far the most helpful and honest book on Christian and secular sexual issues and questions. It used the word of God accuratly and gave no room for justification and spoke clearly. It hit on issues that people just refuse to talk about these days. I am a 21 year old Christian female, and I am getting married in just a few weeks. This book has put a new perspective on how I am going to be sexually in my marriage and I also belive it is a great tool for singles in helping them to remain faithful in their purity commitments with Jesus.

I read this book right before I married my husband. We are both Christians, but I am quite a bit more conservative than he. He didn't really understand why I am so unwilling to publically discuss sex and I don't understand why he is so open with it. I read this book and got SO much more than information about sex from it. It really helped me and my non-reader-husband read just part of it and I could see a difference in his understanding of me. This is a great book to help you see what God thinks of sex and other intimate issues. A plus is that most of the references are KJV.

I am thoroughly enjoying this book. Mr. Sumerall discusses topics that are relevant and important to all age groups in the Kingdom of God. I think this should be required young adult bible school reading and it could used as a tool in pre-marital counseling. I would highly recommed this book to anyone seeking God's mind on topics of a sexual nature. Everything is covered from A to Z.

60 things God said about sex is an excellent book. It is biblically based and very detailed. Very wise advise for any couple or single person, Christian or non-Christian. This book has great insight and practical teaching. And it's very easy for anyone to understand and apply. Those who struggle in sexual areas will find comfort, peace, encouragement and understanding after reading this book. I even recommend teaching teenagers from this book to help them early on in life, so that they can make better choices having more understanding.

I Teach Bible Study, and there are questions that this book answers for me to tell to the students; especially young people that want to know what God has to say about sex. This needs to be taught to every born again believer so that we can live a holy and free life in the Lord!!

Within the bounds of marriage God gave us a gift - sex. It's that simple. When Adam and Eve were standing naked before God and before there was shame, God said "be fruitful and multiply". Essentially God said, "Adam, here is your wife and Eve here is your husband, you are to enjoy each other." When God created, He created it all "good". About man, He said "very good". God intended sex to be good, too, within marriage between a man and a woman - for both man and woman.
This book treats the subject matter with utmost respect and dignity, but the lesson is not lost. Enjoy your spouse.
