Editorial Reviews

Review

"My husband and I were on the 15-year plan...taking almost 15 years before we began to understand one another. I wouldn't recommend that plan for anyone. Instead I would wholeheartedly recommend Jay Payleitner's book 52 Things Husbands Need from Their Wives. Wives--read it, apply it, and begin today to understand the man in your life."
--Kendra Smiley, speaker and author of Do Your Kids a Favor...Love Your Spouse and other books

"As wives, we can choose to be encouragers for our husbands just as much as we can choose to be discouragers. Jay Payleitner gives us the inside scoop on what every husband needs. His biblically based perspective and end-of-the-chapter takeaways make this book a practical relationship builder for any couple."
--Karol Ladd, author of Positive Life Principles for Women

"Jay's giving away our secrets, and we thank him for it. This is an insightful read, directed to women but educational for all of us, and a practical, user-friendly tool for any wife wanting to better understand the creature she's joined to."
Joe Dallas, author and speaker

"Very to the point of what a woman needs to know about her man. After reading these 52 insights, you will better understand that your spouse isn't so weird after all."
--Emilie Barnes, speaker, author, and founder of "More Hours In My Day"

"As military families we spend so much valuable time apart from one another. Knowing how to give my husband what he needs--together or apart--is a treasure. On behalf of all wives, thank you, Jay, for your insight and transparency on the one true gift we all can share--love."
--Tara Crooks, cofounder of Army Wife Network, coauthor of 1001 Things to Love about Military Life

"Husbands, step up to being the spiritual leader in your homes. Start by seeking first the kingdom of God over your own kingdom, and cherishing your wife. Then give your wife a copy of this book by Jay Payleitner. I guarantee you that your marriage will be for the glory of God."
Harry W. Schaumburg, DMin, author of Undefiled: Redemption from Sexual Sin, Restoration for Broken Relationships

"This little book is a treasure trove of wisdom and advice for any woman who wants to understand her husband better. Simple (just like your husband) in its approach, it gives an excellent snapshot of what's inside the heart and soul of a man. I highly recommend it!"
--Rick Johnson, bestselling author of Becoming Your Spouse's Better Half and How to Talk So Your Husband Will Listen--and Listen So Your Husband Will Talk

"Wives, you have great power to help your husband feel confident as he faces life's battles. And your encouragement can be a huge asset to him becoming a great husband and father. Jay's 52 Things Husbands Need from Their Wives will help you understand your man."
—Carey Casey, CEO of The National Center for Fathering and author of Championship Fathering

"Jay has done it again. He continues to give us unique insight into building strong family relationships."
--Dan Seaborn, president and founder of Winning At Home, Inc.

We received this book, and its companion, 52 Things Wives Need From Their Husbands, as a gift for our own annual Timeout to keep our marriage strong.- an unexpected pleasure! Both books touch on both the mundane and the often 'skirted' issues - and everything in between. Each chapter is short, yet full of down-to-earth suggestions for successfully relating to our sometimes enigmatic spouses. Whether you've been married 4 months or 40 years, you're bound to pick up good ideas for your own marriage. Well done!.

This book saved my marriage. Of course, the grace of God had the most to do with it. After being married 20 years and having 3 kids, my marriage had hit rock bottom. A friend suggested this book, and I read it reluctantly. By chapter 4 I decided I would read the whole book. Before I finished it I applied a few suggestions from the book to my marriage. I saw tremendous change in my marriage! Needed change. I fell in love with my husband again. I can't say enough good about this life-changing book!!

GREAT BOOK!!!
I actually bought both of them, one for wives and one for husbands.
We decided to make a 52 week ( year long ) devotional from them.
We read one chapter a week from both books and share an talk about it everyday for that week.
We are learning alot from it, and from each other too.

Gave this as a wedding gift for a second marriage. My friend loved it! Also gave the husband version of the same book. I read this book before I bought it as a gift. I really did enjoy it.

I loved most the words of wisdom though there was a little more religion references than than I would have preferred. Though I will say it wasn't over the top so no big deal.

Jay Payleitner writes easy-to-read, hard-to-put-down, makes-you-think books on relationships. For dads, husbands, wives, parents. Plus, some thought-provoking gift books for graduates and birthdays.

His newest book is "52 Things to Pray for Your Kids."

Jay Payleitner's flagship book for fathers, "52 Things Kids Need from a Dad," has sold more than 150,000 copies. After that bestseller came "52 Things Wives Need from Their Husbands" and "One-Minute Devotions for Dads" for Harvest House Publishers.

Scores of speaking engagements and interviews followed including two appearances on "Focus on the Family" Radio, chalk talks to key booksellers, and several television broadcasts.

After publishing five books for guys, Jay finally wrote a book for wives: "52 Things Husbands Need from Their Wives. And frankly it's about time women had a book that would help them understand men. "Your husband wants you to love your life," says Payleitner.

Instead of giving disposable birthday cards this year, stock up on copies of Jay's new hardcover giftbook "If God Wrote Your Birthday Card."
