I really liked the writing style of this author.

Morgan's book is obviously for Seahawk fans, but football fans in general would learn a lot from reading this book.

If you do too then this book will only make that love blossom.

The NFL as a league, and most teams, receive near blanket coverage these days. Not the Seahawks. Even in their two brief eras of excellence, they were rarely more than a brief interlude by Large Chuckling Men in Suits before moving on to the big market teams. But we have John Morgan, so we Seahawk fans are much better off.
This is not a "history of the team" book. While it covers various aspects of the team since it's inception, it does not attempt to be either a chronological or exhaustive story about the team. Instead, it is 100 essays on players, coaches, moments in the team's history, and other topics that will each plant a seed in your head, challenging the way you think about the team and the game. Want to understand why you should feel proud and not cheated by XL? Want to better appreciate the great Seahawks of the past and anticipate the future greats? Want to learn to see the beauty and skill of the plays in each game that most fans overlook?
In short, do you want to begin understanding the team and the game better than the obnoxious guy standing next to you in the bar and the even more obnoxious one in the press box? Then this book is a great start.

I've read several other Seahawks books, and while reiterating history is nice, seeing it through a new looking glass is that much better. Morgan's writing style makes each section very digestible, if not delicious. I read a lot of David Sedaris and, in terms of essay style and placement, I got similar positive feelings. The read goes by quickly, which is both a tribute to his flow and a shame that the pages run out so rapidly. He offers opinions and opens doors into aspects of individual players, plays, coaches and the NFL itself that nobody else offers. If you're looking for a season-by-season recap or a general history written as a novel, then this is not for you. However, I would encourage anybody looking to learn things about the Seahawks they never may have considered to pick up this book. It may just open your eyes to how exactly sports writing should be done, and just how mundane most other sports writers can be. This isn't just a book for Seahawks fans, it's a book for writing fans too.

An easy, entertaining and insightful book covering most everything a Seahawk fan would want to read about. John Morgan hits all of the high and lows of being a Seahawk fan in a unique voice that puts the majority of sports writing to shame. Instead of a season by season history lesson Morgan offers up 100 well researched editorial essays. The author is not shy about expressing his opinions but is both fair and upfront when presenting them. The topics and the authors interesting takes on them will keep the pages flying.

Seahawk fans are very lucky to have a writer like Morgan dedicated to their favorite team.

If you love/like/enjoy/are semi-content with The Seahawks, you need to get this book. Not only does it have every facet of the franchise covered, but John Morgan does so with a laconic wit that left me laughing every other page. He delineates the esoteric aspects of football to such a degree that it makes it easy for even the most casual of fans to understand.

This is a great buy, and a must-have for not just Hawks fans, but football fans in general.

Hands down, this is an incredible read from start to finish. The format is laid-back and casual, which makes reading through each chapter easy (and that much more enjoyable). He jumps around from specific key players that have shifted the organization (whether good or bad), important moments in Hawk history, as well as general topics that are relevant to the Seahawk enthusiast.

This book will teach you a ton of new things you may not have already known, and provides further insight to things you may have witnessed first-hand. I grew up while the Hawks were in their prime (2003-2007), so learning where they've come from in the earlier stages as a team makes me appreciate them even more.

Any Seahawks or football fan should check this out. It's a must-read that has quickly become one of my favorite books. Also, if you like this, then make sure to head on over to his excellent site Field Gulls ([...]), where John offers even more in-depth Seahawk analysis on a daily basis.

GO HAWKS!!!

Loved the book! It is for fans that have been fans since the beginning and can remember the(Easley/Warner) good, the(Mirer/McGwire) bad, and(oh yeah-2-14) the ugly.

The recipient was happy to receive this - he is a big Seahawks fan and at the moment the team is doing very well. The book is about 6' x 9', not a lot of pages but for a fan it should be appreciated.
