5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Guide For Homeowners, June 29, 2007
By
John Larson (Cave Creek, AZ United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Things You Should Know About Your Roof (Your Roofing Contractor and the Roofing Industry) (Paperback)
In this book, Osterman presents an intricate guide to the types of problems that can affect roofs due to shoddy workmanship, or the passage of time. It's a long read- over 600 pages of info but much of the information is presented in laymans terms that are simple to understand. This isn't a book for industry experts- its designed for concerned homeowners who want to protect their property. Osterman has a tendency to be long winded, but his theories are sound and presented well. If you are having roof problems, as I have, it is almost certainly worth the time and money.

5.0 out of 5 stars REVIEW BY A ROOFING WHOLESALER, August 8, 2007
This review is from: Things You Should Know About Your Roof (Your Roofing Contractor and the Roofing Industry) (Paperback)
Mr. Osterman's knowlege of the roofing industry allows him to really tell it like it is. It's no holds barred information that everyone who owns a roof, designs a roof, or installs a roof should have access to.

The book is quite lengthy but it's reference value is immense. It covers basicly every aspect of roofing and the roofing industry. It seems to emphasize the flaws in the industry more so than the professionalism that exists side by side with the "Tin Man" perception many hold. This skepticism is really what make the book unique.

5.0 out of 5 stars A veritable encyclopedia on your roof, July 6, 2007
This review is from: Things You Should Know About Your Roof (Your Roofing Contractor and the Roofing Industry) (Paperback)
This book is titled "Things You Should Know About Your Roof, Your Roofing Contractor and the Roofing Industry," but it really should be titled "EVERYTHING You Should Know......"

Charles Osterman, who has more than 50 years of experience in the roofing business, takes the reader through all the common problems with all types of roofs, and he does it with simple, straightforward language. The book is geared to the average homeowner, and is chock full of photographs and diagrams of common roofing problems. Nonetheless, my guess is that an expert would probably gain some insight from reading this lengthy (605 pages) book.
