3.0 out of 5 stars More From Moore & Lattimore.
Kenny Lattimore and Chante Moore are r&b's most handsome couple (sit down, Whitney and Bobby!), and this is the album we all knew was coming. Both singers are gifted vocalists who seemingly go together like rice and beans, so it should come as no surprise that they would seize the opportunity to collaborate on record. Here, on "Things That Lovers Do," they...

This review is from: Things That Lovers Do (Audio CD)
Kenny Lattimore's and Chante Moore's joint project, "Things That Lovers Do" is the perfect collection of love songs sung by two people who are so obviously in love that you truly believe the words they are singing. My only criticism for this CD is that I would probably have not chosen "Still", but Lattimore's and Moore's performances in the song were great - the performances for all of the songs were great!

Kenny Lattimore's and Chante Moore's voices go perfectly together and you have to laugh to yourself while reading the back of the CD: "WARNING! This project may cause pregnancy!" The couple then goes on to state that they became pregnant while recording the CD and to proceed with caution.

This is the perfect CD for people who would like to set the mood for love and passion, or for those who just want to hear really passionate music. I was so thrilled that Lattimore and Moore covered the Keith Sweat hit "Make It Last Forever"! This already was a favorite of mine, but Moore and Lattimore put their own flair on it, making it even better (something I thought wasn't possible)!

Definitely go out and buy this CD whether it's for a romantic evening with your significant other, or if you just to feel romance and passion through song. You will not be disappointed!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Collection Must Have (corrected review), February 11, 2003
This review is from: Things That Lovers Do (Audio CD)
Kenny and Chante are an extraordinary complement to each other's voice and talent on "Things That Lovers Do". Their first CD as a married duet combines original songs and previously recorded songs producing 12 wonderful songs just in time for Valentine's Day. From the 12 tracks, only "Is It Still Good To You" will probably receive less playing time than the others. I like the remaining 11 tracks equally.

Though I can comment on every track here's several that stand out:
* "Things that Lovers Do" and "Loveable (From Your Head to Your Toe)" are such sexy song! Their voices display an incredible blend making for sensual tracks.
* On the remake of "You Don't Have To Cry" there's the feeling that two souls found each other after going through past heartaches.
* "With You I'm Born Again" previously recorded by Billy Preston and Syreeta is delivered with the same strength and heart. A beautiful remake.
* When Karyn White and Babyface originally recorded "Love Saw It" I thought the lyrics were extraordinary, but wasn't impressed with their voices. Kenny and Chante bring this song new life.
* So many female singers attempt to remake Minnie Riperton's classic, but Chante succeeds when she sings "Here We Go".

I was so anxious to listen to the CD that I didn't look at the insert until I completed the CD. Inside the couple provides quick-n-sweet sentiments for recording each song. The above comments were written before reading the insert; I now have a deeper appreciation and understanding of each song. As their love continues to grow, I hope to add many more CDs from this gifted couple.

i have always been a fan of both of this singers. Chante has never gotten the credit of being a REAL singer! Kenny has that smooth laid back voice (like Maxwell)...on this cd these two singers become one...... all the songs are re-makes but two. im not a re-make person but they make it work here! this is a sit back and chill cd. i think there should have been more songs but, oh well. here is what i think about the songs:

1. Things That Lovers Do...mid-tempo groove that is real nice (4)
2. You Dont Have To Cry...great just great. Chante brings it.(5)
3. With You Im Born Again...the vocal shine. great song (4)
4. Love Saw It...it was cool, they had to put in an up-tempo song (4)
5. Loveable...this is a my favorie a laid back song (5)
6. You're All I Need...not as good as the orginal but a good listen (4)
7. When I Say I Do...this is a wedding song very nice (4)
8. Close The Door...this one is ok, but ya cant mess wit Teddy!(3)
9. Here We Go...i really liked this one. the really vibe on this one.(4)
10. Is It Still Good To You...almost as good as the orginal.(4)
11. Make It Last Forever....it ok, not as good as the orginal. (3)

KENNY LATIMORE & CHANTE MOORE - THINGS THAT LOVERS DO

WARNING!..THIS PROJECT MAY CAUSE PREGNANCY! Hey those aren't my words. That's what's on the back of the CD. Now some women may say that looking at Kenny alone might cause this and I know the fellas would all say they'd like to be Chante's "baby daddy"(Kadeem?), but the music on this CD will have to suffice. And man the music is good! This project took so long to drop that sometimes you start to wonder if it's gonna be all that. We'll I'm here to say it is. Looks like they just took their time to get it right. Their voices compliment each other well. This is a nice compilation of great love songs of the past with just a hint of new flavor. The CD starts with the title cut, a Jam & Lewis mellow groove that starts the CD off right. Then the CD goes into "You Don't Have To Cry" a remake of the Rene and Angela classic. They picked up the pace to double time and made a real nice rendition. Track 3 "With You I'm Born Again" is a soft remake of the Billy Preston original. Track 4 "Love Saw it" is also a nice remake. Chante sounds alot like Karen White on this one. Track 5 "Loveable" is another Jam/Lewis original. Lyrically Chante and Kenny fade in and out on this one like a lyrical battle. Very nicely done. Track 6 "Your All I Need", the Tammi Terrell and Marvin Gaye classic, is perfectly placed on this CD. They really peaked on this song. Track 7 "When I Say I Do" is a Clint Black original and I have to say it had me looking for the original. Very beautiful song. One of my favorites on the CD. Track 8, the Teddy P classic "Close The Door", is my favorite on the CD. Where on "You Don't Have To Cry" they picked up the pace they slowed this one down even more. Musically the saxophone solo is great and stands out. Chante looped a verse from Janet's "Anytime Anyplace" cut and worked it! Now this is where the baby making comes in definitely. Track 9 "Here We Go" is a Peabo/Minnie Ripperton classic. Chante hits those Minnie/Mariah high notes real nicely. The track is produced by James Poyser and ?uestlove from "The Roots" makes a nice appearance. Track 10 "Is it still good to you", The Ashford and Simpson classic, is done nicely also. Track 11 is one of my all time favorites, Keith Sweat's "Make It Last Forever". I'm glad they decided to do this one because Jacki McGee really makes the song in the original and Chante has a big focus on this cut. Nice decision. The CD wraps up with Lionel Ritchie's "Still"..Great ending to the CD. This is one of the better duet CD's you'll ever hear. Every song has it's own magic. Whereas usually remakes are looked upon as artists not being creative this project is one of the most creative ones in the past few years. May the baby makin begin>>>>>>>>

Great album. This is one of the best DUET albums I've ever listen to. Chante and Kenny are two talented singers whose musical careers haven't really been a mega success but they surely deliver. I love this album and I would recommend for purchase or download.

It's a amazing CD. I'm a very ... romantic person inside and out and this CD is denfinitely my personality. Their nothing like two lovers truly in love and singing about what they feel. I was put into a whole zone. A zone of love. The CD was given to me as a gift and I'm gonna ... give him thanks.

4.0 out of 5 stars What a beautiful album, February 24, 2003

This review is from: Things That Lovers Do (Audio CD)
Let's get something straight, this album is great but nowhere near as great as Chante's earlier albums. But let's give credit where credit is rightly due - I think she wants to sing it from the hilltops that she is finally exhaling and who cares if the words to the songs don't rhyme or that she is not exploiting her full vocal range. I remember the painful lyrics on her previous albums (except This Moment is Mine) and I thought she so deserves to sing about true love. This album is a story of the love that she has finally found.

Sorry, I'm a bit slow on the uptake. I don't think I have ever heard any of Kenny Lattimore's music (give me a break, I'm British). But his singing is super fine like wine.

All the best of luck for the future.
