This novel is set 20 years after the first and Captain Ryan Lee must face his past to be able to deal with his future. He is confronted by a man long thought dead, a man who destroyed what would have been a wonderful life for Captain Lee. He faces a titanic struggle against this man and his followers, while his shipmates deal with a possible attack by a sinister empire.
