All Things Will Unwind is the third, stunning offer from Detroit based experimental pop chanteuse-My Brightest Diamond, aka Shara Worden. Known for her many collaborations with indie rock royalty (Sufjan Stevens, Bon Iver, David Bryne, The Decemberists, and The National) as well as her extraordinary original material, Worden is coming into her own as an artist and human on this 11 song recording.

Shara Worden's third offering under the moniker My Brightest Diamond moves even a little farther left of the pop genre than her other albums did, becoming less accessible to the radio-listening masses with orchestration heavy on the woodwinds, horns, strings, ukelele, and atypical percussion instruments. Song styles are quite varied, with influences ranging everywhere from tribal/native, gypsy folk, bluegrass, and swing. Unfortunately, some songs even encroach into hokey community musical theater territory (of which I am not a fan), especially the first and last tracks. The last track also has an annoying squeaky bed spring noise throughout the whole song that I really don't understand. Anyways, I've always thought of My Brightest Diamond as the imaginary lovechild of Radiohead and Bjork, and this album is taking more after Bjork - whimsical and strange. Yet the more I play it, the more I hear it's intricacies, and the more I am hooked. While I do miss the guitar a little, her exquisite voice is still ever present, which makes it all worthwhile.

Singing to the heart ,mind and soul
This classically trained singer song writer manages to take a verbal sensitivity and mix it up with a classical and pop rythmality that taps the toe as well as the heart and mind

Quirky and lush
With its airy orchestrations and sweet quirky lyrics 'All Things Will Unwind' may not feature any Top 40 tracks, but in this case that's most definitely a GOOD thing. Read more
