Book Description

FINALIST - 2013 Next Generation Indie Book Awards (Humor)
FINALIST - 2013 National Indie Excellence Book Awards (Humor)

Things Go Wrong For Me (when life hands you lemons, add vodka) is a memoir of sorts, a roadmap of Rodney Lacroix's haywire life thus far. From his childhood, through the raising of his own kids, to his vasectomy and post-divorce world ... this book is more than just a culmination of outrageous stories woven into a cohesive narrative, it’s a testament for the "little guy."

In this case, literally. Rodney is 5’3”. He’s very little. Almost tiny. Bank tellers offer him lollipops. He makes holiday money wearing green stockings and fake ears.

But even though he’s small in stature, his stories and the laughs that accompany them are definitely BIG.

There's no doubt, if you enjoy snorting milk through your nose, and you're drinking milk right now ... you're going to love this book.

Editorial Reviews

"A hysterical book written by a man with no filter, a vasectomy and a name like 'Rod?' I'm all over it."
- Jenny McCarthy, NYT Bestselling Author, TV personality, Cougar Raper
"Rodney draws you in with vibrant diction and illustrations. Before you know it your ass will be numb because you've read "Things Go Wrong for Me", cover-to-cover, on the toilet. Which is the only acceptable place to read it since you'll be pissing yourself with laugh-out-loud hilarity!"
- Bo Sellers, Comedienne and Actress
"Rodney Lacroix has created a wonderfully hilarious book, and also has a very fun name to say out loud."
- Jenny Lawson, Author of NYT Bestseller, Let's Pretend This Never Happened
"If things go wrong in your life, buying this book may be the first right thing you do. If nothing else, your life will feel right by comparison alone. Truly an awesomely funny book. (If Rodney serves chocolate at his book signing.. avoid it...)"
- David M Beach, Actor / Comedian / Host of the LowDown
"Rodney's book is absolutely, hands-down hilarious. And now I hate him because his book is funnier than mine and for that, he must die. That sound you hear is his ex-wife cheering ..."
- Suzy Soro, Comedian and Author, Celebrity sTalker
"As a middle-aged woman, I can safely declare that Rodney's Things Go Wrong For Me is targeted to pre-pubescent boys with a penchant for juvenile delinquency and a fistful of Twinkies. Two words: I loved it."
- Margaret Andrews, Author of Nanny Goats in Panties and Sticky Readers

About the Author

Rodney Lacroix is a comedian, father of two amazing kids, reluctant 40-hour-a-week software engineer and best-selling author. In 2013, Rodney was awarded an NGI Book Awards Medal for his memoir, "Things Go Wrong for Me." This beautiful medal is currently on display around his neck because he has not taken it off since receiving it. Also he's not very humble.
Rodney firmly believes that fabricating grandiose tales about one's self makes a person more impressive. That's exactly what he told Playgirl Magazine when they did a four-page nude spread of him.
It's probably best you don't believe anything Rodney says.

5.0 out of 5 stars For the Love of Moooooog! December 16, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard my dog woke up and turned around to see what was wrong with me... which is exactly what happened as I guffawed over this book. I just finished reading Things Go Wrong for Me and it's vintage Moooooog! Rodney Lacroix, (aka Moooooog, aka Midget Man of Steel,) is the politically incorrect humorist and blogger who can make you forget all your ideals at the drop of a double-entendre... because he's that funny. Now his self-deprecating tales of mis-spent youth, pratfalls of parenting and adventures in post-divorce dating are available in print for all to read.

So funny! Rodney takes you from childhood to vasectomy in this honest and funny look at himself. I first started following Rodney on Twitter on Mooooooog35 where he made me laugh and pee my pants on a daily basis. Did I mention I had a bladder control problem? I don't really. Girls always say they pee their pants and it's somewhat hot, but I don't think it's the same for masturbation! When girls go it, so hot! When boys do it, everyone is disgusted! Ooops, sorry...Rodney's book. Seriously, buy this book if you are a fan of raw, honest, observations and comedy...or buy the book if you need something to give to that weird Uncle that you just never know what to buy when Christmas rolls around.

5.0 out of 5 stars Side-splitting, rolling on the floor, hilarious! December 18, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Rodney Lacroix's book, Things Go Wrong for Me, is one of the funniest things I've read in a long time! From his "I was a fat kid" childhood to his "lying to my kids" parenting, to his detailed description of his vasectomy experience, he had me laughing out loud. It's even funnier than his blog, of which I've been a fan for a long time. I expected to enjoy the book, but never thought I'd actually love it! Way to go, Moooooog!

5.0 out of 5 stars HILARIOUS!! A MUST READ!! December 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I kind of knew this book was going to be funny because I am friends with Rodney on Twitter, Facebook and I read his blog, but this book was even funnier than I was expecting.

His self depreciating humor just kills me. It's so genuine. You can't fake it!

Just his section on his Draw Something pictures is worth the cost of the book. We all need to encourage him to come out with another book of just his Draw Something images! He is great at it and the pictures are so detailed and hilarious!

Be prepared for the extended section on shaving his balls and getting a Vasectomy. It's a great chronicle of a not so funny situation.

I bought the Kindle version but am thinking about buying the actual book so I can pass it around and share it with all my friends and family that I know would love it but not normally buy books for themselves.

This book is one of those books you can't put down so once you start reading it give yourself several hours to just do nothing and finish it because once you start you simply can't quit. I had to stop reading long enough to cook supper for the family but I didn't want to!!

You can really read and enjoy this book even if you have never heard of Rodney before today. It is written in a manner that makes it totally self explanatory. There's no inside joke to it. He puts it all out there! And I mean puts it ALL OUT THERE!!

We can also encourage him to come out with a book of just the instant messages he has with his co-workers and his girlfriend. He doesn't show those in this book but we need one to come out!!

I know this book will be successful and any other books he comes out with will be just as funny and just as successful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Creativity at it's funniest...and scariest ;) December 27, 2012
First book EVER that's made me belly-laugh, cry and blush...usually all at the same time! Rodney has such a unique sense of humor, perspective on life, and drawing "skill" that makes his book truly entertaining. The only reason I give it four stars is because, as a former teacher, I believe there's always room for improvement...and selfishly, I'm hoping he writes another. ;) Someone needs to give this guy his own radio show!

1.0 out of 5 stars DOES HUMOR HAVE TO BE DISGUSTING? April 3, 2013
By Mary
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Reviews were great, so I downloaded the book. I started reading it, and noted the use of bad language -- but it seemed funny -- so I continued on -- as long as I could. After awhile it wasn't funny. I have low tolerance for the "F" word and the name "Jesus" and sexual innuendos. It was funny -- until it just got more unpleasant than funny -- so I gave it up about an 8th of the way through. What is that about people who can only be funny by using bad language -- lack of vocabulary or intelligence or creativity?

5.0 out of 5 stars Laughed my ass off! December 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I have followed Rodney's (aka, Mooooog's) blog, "Midget Man of Steel" for a couple of years now, so I sort of knew a little bit of what to expect when I read the book, but OMG the blog was the tip of the Rodney iceberg! I had no idea what I was getting into with this book, and I mean this in the best way possible! It's definitely guy humor, but it was still relatable to me as a gal. From his childhood stories of mishap after mishap as an overweight kid growing up in New Hampshire to him getting a taste of his own medicine when he had his own kids, each story is filled with Rodney's trademark snarkiness and self deprecating humor that makes his writing so relatable.
His chapter of his now well known "Draw Something" drawings are absolutely hysterically funny and disturbing at the same time. I would expect nothing less.
His book is filled with some stories from his blog, including the very detailed story about his vasectomy, (I swear, I think I know more about his balls at this point than I know about my "stuff" after my colonoscopy!), to funny stories about his kids and his "rules" about parenting.
Things definitely go wrong for Rodney, but not this book. It's freakin awesome!
