Most of the songs on this album are good.

They are as good as any of the mainstream acts that were popular in the 80's hard rock/hair metal scene.

I first heard these guys when my brother brought home the tape version back in the late 80's. I immediately kyped it... ~_^ I listened to it constantly and nearly wore it out. I eventually moved on & didn't listen to it as much, but I'd still pop it into my tape deck when I wanted to sing along to some great songs. Unfortunately, years of college moves have lead to the loss of this great tape. Then again, it's about time to upgrade anyways...

Here's my review of the different songs. Keep in mind that it has actually been a few years since I heard them -- I'm going by what I can get to replay in my head...

1. Scratch My Back -- good song -- high energy

2. No Easy Way Out -- one of the best songs -- good intro

3. Race With The Devil -- fun song

4. Red Rose -- AWESOME -- sad song... I always imagined a Civil War soldier singing to his left behind love [yes, i was like 12 when i first listened to this song]

5. Live Fast Die Young -- can't remember this one as well... remember it as being a pretty good song

6. Too Cool For School -- good song, fun

7. Ball-N-Chain -- AWESOME... everyone about this song sticks in your head...

8. Fastest Gun In Town -- good song

9. Nine Lives -- decent song... not great but singable

10. Need Your Sex -- for some reason, i never cared for this song... I would FFW just so that I could start over on the other side...

remembering these songs, i think i'm going to have to buy this now... these were timeless...

I initially purchased this CD after hearing bits of the song "Scratch my Back". While that track is definitely the best on the album, I was extremely pleased with the rest of the album as well. Out of the ten tracks on here, there are only two that I don't care for as much. Eight hits (for me) makes one tremendous album. I am not sure how these guys didn't make it big back in the day. They are as good as any of the mainstream acts that were popular in the 80's hard rock/hair metal scene. I was trying to think of bands to compare them to but find that a difficult task. Maybe a touch of early Crue or Dokken with some Krokus mixed in? That may not be too accurate. They really just have a great sound all their own. The vocals are great, rhythms rock hard and the songs are diverse and interesting in their own way so you won't hear the same formula through the whole album. If you have all the mainstream music from this genre and you are looking for something 'new' to you, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this album. It is definitely in my top ten best unknown hard rock albums out there!

Originally released in 1988, Things You've Never Done Before was the debut album from Florida glam-metallers Roxx Gang. You can tell from the band photo that these guys took their cues from the Sunset Strip hair metal scene, but their sound packs a few surprises.

For the most part, Roxx Gang's sound is driven by the basic Motley Crue/Poison/L.A. Guns hair metal sound, full of great hooks and sleazy lyrics, but there's also this rougher, street-rockin' sound that reminds me a lot of pre-Pyromania Def Leppard. It's a good combination, and goes a long way towards making the band stand out in 1988's sea of hair bands. Album opener Scratch My Back and Live Fast Die Young are a couple of the better songs on Things You've Never Done Before, but the whole album is pretty solid.

I don't know how I missed this one back in the day, but better late than never. If you're still into 80's hard rock, you'll definitely want to check out Roxx Gang, and Things You've Never Done Before is a great place to start.

NOTE: Perris Records reissued Things You've Never Done Before in 1997 with digitally remastered sound and some cool multimedia content. If, like me, you missed this album the first time around, this reissue is a great way to correct that oversight. If you have the older version, the remastered sound should be a convincing reason to upgrade.

I still love this album. Most of the songs on this album are good.On this cd they had thier own hard rock sound with songs like no easy way out ,red rose, and live fast die young.Any thing they came out with after this could not hold up to it. From good guitar riffs and melodic solos this is a classic 80's glam rock album. It was a good one that flew under the radar of the music sene back then.

I had never heard of these guys till one night listening sat radio and they played Red Rose. at first the chorus threw me off a bit I was like NAW ! But I listened to the rest and thought not bad so Rewind and listened again . Next Day I ordered it and two weeks later I'm still hitting the play button in my car when there's nothing I want to hear on sat.

The musicianship of this band is great. However, their singer is mediocre. I did not give it five stars for this reason.
