More About the Author

Brian Amiri Brown was born in 1988 in Detroit Michigan. After graduating from High School, he decided to pursue a degree in communications at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. He has since graduated from college and is now pursuing a career as an author, script-writer, and a television producer. He likes to have fun, and enjoys sports, games, music, writing, and film. He also spends much of his time planning for his future in writing and music. These books were written because of his concerns about the inability of some kids and young adults to make sound decisions. He‛s had a very tough childhood and school life, which have taught him many lessons at an early age, and wants to serve as a positive role model, so other youth can learn from his experiences. Brian conceived the idea of the Think About It Series when he was 13 years of age. He then began writing this series when he was 15 years old as a way of dealing with day-to-day problems that he came in contact with. Each day he had to think and make a decision about how he would respond to particular situations or events. His plans are to own his own businesses, and to continue writing and public speaking as a way to help young people in society learn that they have the power to rise above bad situations and make wise choices.

This book is an amazing book for young children. I have gotten it for several of my nieces and nephews, who love being able to relate to the situations. It helps with conflict resolution, and ways to say no to drugs and alcohol and can be used for a variety of ages, especially elementary and teens. The added "reflect" part makes it easy for kids to apply the lessons to their own lives and really get the most out of it. I highly recommend it!

In my 32 years of teaching at the elementary school level in Philadelphia, I've never run into a children's book like this before. "Think About It", has a very unique and creative way of educating young readers on real world issues through the use of short stories and cool cartoons. Topics such as drug use, gun abuse, and bullying are addressed in a way that kids can understand and learn from. There's also a section that allows kids to write and reflect on the stories, and express how they could make the right decisions if they were in each story's situation. It's an excellent tool that schools and parents can use for teaching children about the real world, and for making the right choices.

Brian A. Brown's book Think About It- A Write and Reflect Book In Series 2 is going to be popular with American parents as it explains to their children how to say no to bullies etc. The text is easy to read in an attractive font on pleasantly coloured backgrounds. And there is room for children to write their "reflective thoughts" on each lesson.

The illustrations are simple and colourful though a little old fashioned in a book for the 21st century I thought. However, they may be deliberately childish to appeal to children.

I don't think there is any doubt Mr Brown will have a hit on his hands with these books!
