Book Description

October 23, 2007

Donald J. Trump is an icon: the very definition of the American success story. The star of The Apprentice and developer of some of the planet's most prestigious real estate, he's been on the bottom and risen to become one of the world's wealthiest men.

Bill Zanker started The Learning Annex with $5,000 of his own money. After meeting Donald Trump, Zanker learned to Think BIG himself and grew The Learning Annex from a $5 million a year company into one that's generating over $100 million a year in sales—and still growing.

For the first time ever, you too can learn Trump's secrets to thinking BIG and kicking ass! Learn:

  • Momentum: the Big Mo. How to get it and how to get it back.
  • Revenge: how and when to get it (and why it's so sweet).
  • "I love you, now sign this!" Why contracts in business and personal life are so important.
  • Real-life stories from people who've applied the think BIG formula in their own lives.

Editorial Reviews

About the Author

Donald J. Trump is a graduate of the Wharton School of Finance and the developer of some of the most prestigious addresses worldwide, including Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue, Trump Park Avenue, Trump World Tower, 40 Wall Street, The Grand Hyatt Hotel, the historic Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, the Palm Trump International Hotel and Tower in Dubai, and numerous award-winning golf courses. His Real Estate and Wealth Expos with The Learning Annex have helped over one million people to think BIG. As the Emmy-nominated star and coproducer of the hit television show The Apprentice and the author of seven bestsellers, he is truly a media giant. This is the first book where Donald reveals his Think BIG attitude.

From AudioFile

Familiar lessons from the king of bold are invigorating, relentless, convincing, and not for the faint of heart. Yet Trump seems to speak to everyone--from the already confident to those who need to add a bit of kick-ass to their repertoire. To succeed in business and not get crushed, he says, you have to be tough, competitive, ruthless, and, at times, vindictive. TrumpÕs advice is illustrated with entertaining stories, colorful language, and his over-the-top confidence. Alan SklarÕs big voice and attitude are too big for this material. His emotionality sounds forced and at times out of sync with some of the complex sentences. HeÕs trying to add power to words that already have enough energy to move mountains and wake the dead. 3.0 out of 5 stars Great insight on business, poor insight on morals and values, February 11, 2008

I was pumped up to read this book which was referred by a good friend who is also in business. It kept me pumped up mostly through the book. The business side of it is what you need to hear in a down type of market. You need to hear about the "thinking outside the box" that occurs when the top 1% grow expenentially during a slow period as opposed to the other 99% that let fear envelope them and their businesses. There are a lot of good ideas on how to handle people, especially people that you are in close contact with day to day. I do agree with this structure around loyalty, it is my most treasured trait for my employees but I do not agree with his revenge policies. I guess doing business in downtown Manhattan for years can make you that way in order to get what you want. I am a Christian and therefore I handle my morals and values a little different in the course of business and also in the course of my marriage. His take on marriage is that you will probably get divorced and you should make sure you aren't put out in the pasture over it. I treat my marriage as business in that my wife and I have spiritual and personal goals to meet together (in business I have business and financial goals). He is also very stuck on himself. I enjoyed the "commentaries" by Larry and the insight on how he was able to get the Learning Annex up and running and the relentlessness at which he built the business. That part of it was worth buying the book. Overall a good read and something I could get a few good nuggets out of for my business.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb job on this - narration brings it to life, November 24, 2007

As long as you're going to listen to somebody, you should listen to Trump's words... his attitude, values and business philosophy are legendary, and this latest audio cd helps bring it all to life.

Trump's books and audios and Learning Annex appearances do a terrific job of motivating us self-made entrepreneurs to achieve stunning success, and feeding my psyche a steady diet of Trump has genuinely helped me achieve the no-holds-barred kick-a$$ approach that has helped me earn millions.

I've gotta get into real estate, to take that up a few notches. Thanks Donald and team for bringing this to market, it helps. Would like to see some DVDs featuring Donald himself, on various real estate and successful entrepreneurship topics, to see you talk to us; it's truly motivational to have a modern day Carnegie/Rockefeller type like you, Trump, to provide leadership. You've got it - we want it. Thanks for sharing.

==========
Update: added for the new "Think Big" Book release Sept 30, 2008:
Mr. Trump's work processes, style and attitude about achievement deliver a winning role model for all of us self-made entrepreneurs.

Some of his tactics such as being tough, stubborn, persistent and that "your word is golden" provide a solid foundation for getting results - fast.

In this book, I like his focus on setting the bar higher, on not giving up, on thinking larger-than-life, and continuously working to accomplish truly remarkable results. It's the "blueprint for breaking out" to help people of all walks of life think and act big, to go for higher achievement, and ultimately to have more satisfying lives.

Yet another winner from Mr. Trump ... from a millionaire (me) to a billionaire (you), I want to say thanks again for overdelivering -- your books and trump u make a solid contribution to entrepreneurial, and life, success on many levels. Making bigger winners, more often.

To achieving spectacular results,

Ken Calhoun

3.0 out of 5 stars Save it for the tabloids Trump!, August 27, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Think BIG and Kick Ass in Business and Life CD (Audio CD)
This is book is very entertaining. Not on purpose, mind you, but I found myself eagerly waiting for Trump to top his own arrogant statements. I think it was his exclamation that he could "negotiate peace in the middle east" that had me laughing the loudest.

He is blatantly honest which I appreciated. But he showed himself to be more of a tyrant and dictator than a savvy businessman. Unappreciative and callous, his openness to hurt people was amazing. He gives us a blurb about how Mark Burnett is a talented and passionate guy but then continually gives himself all of the credit for The Apprentice's success.

Some of his stories were downright cruel. He shared an incidence where one of his staff members refused to cower down to his whim and he subsequently (and illegally I believe) sought out to destroy her life. She was given no credit for her years of service. Her lack of allegiance to the mighty Trump was the only reason she suffered his wrath.

Maybe I'm too small of a thinker but if becoming a New York billionaire means turning myself into a cruel heartless jerk, I'll pass.

There are some intermittent bits of wisdom that are helpful. I liked his advice on interviewing. The FAQ's at the end of the book were insightful. But more than anything, the book was a means for Trump to insult celebrities he didn't like, and praise the ones he did. Save that for the tabloids!
