Product Description

This ThinkBamboo cutting board is a beautiful, functional, ecologically sound addition to any kitchen. Bamboo is 16% harder than maple, making it an excellent cutting surface. Bamboo is actually a grass that grows to a harvestable height of 60 feet in 3 to 5 years, growing as much as 2 feet per day. It has an extensive root system that continually sends up new shoots, naturally replenishing itself. It does not require replanting, making it one of the most renewable resources known. ThinkBamboo uses timber bamboo which is neither a food source nor a habitat for the Giant Panda. ThinkBamboo's cutting boards are assembled with approved food-grade glue. None of their products are made with formaldehyde-based glue. No dyes or stains are used in the manufacturing process. The pleasing designs are created by combining natural blond colored bamboo with carbonized bamboo, which is pressure heated to darken it caramelizing sugars within the bamboo. ThinkBamboo prides itself on using only premium hand-selected bamboo, innovative design, exemplary craftsmanship, and fair labor policies.Care Instructions: Wash with warm water and mild detergent and occasionally wipe down with a food-safe oil. It is a good idea to oil any wood or bamboo cutting board thoroughly before first using it to seal the pores against water and food particles. If your cutting board arrives damaged (sometimes cracks occur due to rapid pressure and humidity changes while shipping) please contact us and we will send you a replacement. (Do not clean in dishwasher).

5.0 out of 5 stars beautiful board, March 7, 2009

I love this board, I have been using it for several months and I can't see any of the knife cuts in it yet unless I wet it down. It seems less absorbing than a wood board and well, I just think it looks much nicer than a wood board. It cleans off beautifully with a few simple wipes of a sponge. The added benefit of over half the cost of wood and half the weight, you should really consider purchasing one of these if you are looking for a large cutting board. So far everyone who has seen it remarks as how nice it looks. If I had to purchase a second, I would definitely purchase a bamboo board. All of my small wood boards warp and crack after about a year with the dry winters and humid summers, I am betting this board will last me many years to come.

I would say simply buy this! The cutting board is very well made. I purchased mine over 5 years ago and it is still in excellent condition. You will use this for many, many years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Nice Board, February 14, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

We bought this as a gift for a family member who cooks alot. She loves the Board. The scratches are visible, but after a month, they are still minor. The board is heavy and stays on the counter top without moving. Glad we bought this and would buy again.
