3.0 out of 5 stars packaging worn when arrived
The packaging was very worn like this product was a return. This was a big disappointment as it was a gift.

Here we have another winner from the folks at ThinkFun. My 9 year old received this toy yesterday; I have played it a bit and found it quite challenging even at the "advanced" level (it goes up higher to "expert"). The premise of the game is straightforward. You have 9 chocolates in three colors and three shapes; you are given clues as to how to place them in the "chocolate box". Not as easy as one might think! There is a spiral notebook of sets of clues with various difficulty levels. My 9 year old will do ok with the "beginner" and "intermediate" levels; the "advanced" level will challenge her but each card sort of guides the user's thinking to the next step. "Expert" will be hard for my 9 year old. A nice feature for parents/users is that this is a one person game. Or at least it's intended to be. There's no reason why two people couldn't work through a puzzle together; it would be a great way to use teamwork and share the logical thought process. But it's nice to have a game for kids that doesn't require a partner since a friend is not always around and a parent is not always available to play. But this is not just a kid's game. It should provide quite a bit of enjoyment to adults. A great way to keep the mind sharp! Like other ThinkFun games, all the pieces fit nicely in a cloth bag; so nice not to have yet another bulky broken box on the toyshelf.

I'm a bit outside the suggested age range (at 43) but I really enjoyed this delightful puzzle. My kids have enjoyed other ThinkFun products, especially Rush Hour, River Crossing, and Tip Over, but this one I bought for me. It is almost like a 3-dimensional logic puzzle, in which placements are deduced using clues and elimination. It would make a fun coffee table accent as well. And best of all, no calories!

5.0 out of 5 stars No it's not tic tac toe - but this beautiful game stands on its own..., May 27, 2008
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars

This toy stops people in their tracks. The chocolates are so luscious and cute, people are always curious about the game, and the first thing they ask is, "Is it tic tac toe?"

Well, no, given that there are 3 colors and not 2 but who's counting :)

In this game, you are given clues and must figure out where to place the chocolates. For example, the clue might tell you (visually, not with words) all of the chocolates in the first row are pink, and all of the chocolates in the first column are circles. You use that information to determine that the pink circle chocolate belongs in the top left space.

It is very similar to Gridworks, although not as good for travel (Gridworks uses magnets).

This game comes with a spiral notebook instead of cards like most ThinkFun games, and I really like that -- it makes for easier clean up and reduces the chance of losing/misplacing individual cards (which we often do -- we have over a dozen ThinkFun games tossed in a basket and none of them has a full deck of cards).

Well anyway, this is a beautiful little game, lots of fun to play, highly recommended.

This toy is fun. You can't eat the pieces, but it's still a great game! I got it for a gift exchange this past Christmas, and it was enjoyed by all after we opened the gifts. I think it would be nice if they came out with a second book of puzzles. No, we haven't finished all of them (especially the advanced ones...) but we would like more for when we do finish them.

5.0 out of 5 stars great concept well delivered, November 7, 2008

This is a very well designed game - both conceptually and physically. This one-person game is a set of logic puzzles, each puzzle having a page of "clues" to help you solve it. The puzzle is solved by correctly ordering the 9 pieces of chocolate in the tray. The puzzles are in a spiral bound notebook that stands up on its own, clues on one page and answer on the flip side of the page. The concept of the game is simple yet engages the player in good logical thinking and deductive reasoning. The game pieces, board, and tray are simple yet appealing (and durable). It also comes with a storage bag. DD6 loves this game!

What an amazing game. Your kids will accidentally use their brains and not even realize it because it is so much fun. I secretly play the game at night and it is such a fun challenge.

I bought Chocolate Fix because I wanted to be able to offer my kids a better alternative than TV. I have enjoyed seeing the determined look in my son's eyes as he attemts each new challenge. He is eight and enjoys tackling the intermediate and advanced puzzles. My five year old daughter enjoys the beginner puzzles. It has gotten more use than most of our board games and I would recommend it for parents looking for games that will help develop their children's thinking skills.

This gift for my 12 year old was a big hit - easy to learn - fun to play - challenging on the later pages. It's a single player deduction game - place the pieces based on the clues given. Everyone loved it - adults, 12, 10 and 7 year olds. Play the game on the ThinkFun web site to see what it is - then shop around for price.

My 8 year old daughter owns this toy and it is one of her favorites. Recently, I had to drive a group of high school students on a two hour ride. My daughter had left this on the back seat of the car. The high school students played it the entire car ride and absolutely loved it. I would highly recommend Chocolate Fix for any age range.

This is the third 5 star review I've written for a Thinkfun product. Again, exceptional construction! The tray is durable, clue/solution book is tough, and each piece of chocolate is realistic enough to make you hungry. I agree with the person who said it was a great coffee table piece. I enjoyed it very much.
