Our 9-year-old saw one of the kids at school play with this. So of course the nagging started as soon as we got home. Fortunately, I remember this puzzle since when I was a kid and had no problem giving in.... :-)

Also:
- it is inexpensive (unlike the playstation and x-box); which is a huge benefit, since we have 3 kids and things like this have to be bought in triplicate
- it is made of metal, so that even our 5-year-old couldn't break it
- IT IS GREAT FUN

I never thought I'd think that plastic would be better than metal, but in the case of a 15-puzzle, it certainly is.

Growing up, I loved playing with the cheap plastic fifteen puzzles I'd get going to birthday parties. I was very good at them and very fast at solving the puzzles.

In the 2000s, as a teen, I spent years looking for the plastic slider puzzles, but couldn't find them anywhere. At last, I found a metal 15-puzzle. I figured it would be an upgrade from the flimsy plastic of my (younger) childhood, so I spent 4x as much for this same product as it is shown here.

I was more than disappointed. The reason I loved the plastic sliders was because the pieces slid well and fast. These metal ones are wobbly and frequently get stuck--it's pretty aggravating when I have to unstick each piece several times when attempting to slide a whole row in one direction.

If you are buying for looks, the metal one definitely looks more regal.
If you are actually wanting to solve the puzzle and have fun doing it, buy the plastic version, which is no doubt worth five stars.

This is a great game to carry with you when you go out. I bought it for my 4 year old son initially because he likes the 3x3 puzzle game we bought for him before. This one is a little more challenging than the 3x3 puzzle but overall my boy still likes it when he moves the number around. He does need a lot of help to solve this puzzle. I have a lot of fun playing it myself and would carry it to play sometimes when I go out. Overall this is a great toy for both adults and kids.

This puzzle was and still is a winner. Some things never change and this one is still great. I've given an extra star for the nostalgic "retro" attention to detail.

I was absolutely elated to get this game. First, it has been years since I've played it. More young people need to be exposed to it. The steel case makes it durable so it's impervious to lots of wear and tear. The case protects it from damage too. I really enjoy this game, and I plan on buying one for each of the little kids and the big ones in my household.

The tiles get jammed so easily, that I spend more time getting the tiles slide than I spend solving the puzzle.

What a disappointment! When I played with this puzzle in my youth (yes, I admit, it was over 55 years ago), I remember hours of fun as I easily moved the tiles quickly to match the speed of my brain. However, the puzzle I bought for my grandchildren last month seemed defective because the tiles kept getting stuck on their track, thereby making movement slow and difficult. The kids and I were totally frustrated. I thought it was a defect in that particular puzzle so I bought the same puzzle from another bookstore; however, the same problem existed. I am so surprised at the positive reviews for this particular company's game. Yes, the red case is very nice, but I would have preferred that the company spend the extra bucks on a quality puzzle.

I recently purchased this puzzle for my son who is 5. He is gifted with advanced spatial and cognitive skills. I know from using this toy as a child that it will be a good brain exerciser for him.

As for the quality, I haven't seen a better more "solid" puzzle. Most of the ones I had as a child were made of plastic but this one is high quality metal. The pieces slide very easily. It comes with a little pouch. This is a cool puzzle!
