This is one of those challenging-but-not-too-challenging puzzles. It's hard enough that you'll probably feel a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment at figuring it out, although you may experience some frustration along the way (but I think any decently challenging puzzle should have at least a few of those moments).

I'd say this puzzle is a good beginner/intermediate puzzle for someone who enjoys brain puzzles like the Rubik's cube. Most people aren't going to be able to pick up a Rubik's cube and solve it on their own within a few days. But most people will be able to solve this one on their own within a few hours or days.

5.0 out of 5 stars You either get it or you don't !!, June 23, 2008

I loved this puzzle !
Watching friends and family members attempt it, my conclusion is that the world is separated in two groups: those who get this puzzle (some quite intuitively) and those who don't get it at all; no matter how much explanation and demonstration you subject them to (LOL)!!
You can easily find detailed solutions on the internet if you are of the second group!
The construction is pretty good quality and the product works really well but a quick Warning to impatient people: don't attempt any move that require forcing a piece to move... if you have the proper method, the pieces move very smoothly and with no obstruction.... You simply need to be open to go one step forward and several steps back ;-)
Enjoy !

Purchased Spinout for my classroom because my students loved "Flipside" and this looked similar... this one is actually a bit more fun because it's easier. They get frustrated with Flipside very quickly but this one can be picked up and messed with, and after a few minutes you get the hang of the pattern... but then to carry it all the way through is not too easy! Perfect balance between aggravating and simple. I highly recommend this.

Like a good book, this is hard to put down. We bought a few of these as stocking stuffers for 10-14 year old kids. Not easily solved, it challenges you to keep going. Just when you think you are making progress, it humbles you to keep thinking. I'm sure all the kids will get this before I do. It may take me awhile, but it WILL get solved.

Spinout is a nice little game for one player. The novelty is surely lost on anyone 5 and under (manufacturer recommends 8 and over). It is a puzzle game in which you try to maneuver the blue tiles in position to release the entire black slide. It took me about 20 minutes to figure it out. I then tried other ways with no luck. Went back to the old way and got it out again in 4 minutes. My daughter, who is 6 and has incredible patience and determination (Job would be envious) spent 90 minutes on the puzzle - finally did solve it and is now done with it. We have other younger kids who will each try it as they are older, so were not out money, but I cant say this is a "great buy" due to the minimal use you will likely get. Great for parties, schools, road trips, and larger families. But if this is meant as a once a week toy/game to play, look elsewhere.

I purchased this at Tuesday Morning recently for only 2.99. I actually purchased a few of them. I knew I wouldn't be disappointed since it was made by Thinkfun. I have many of their games and they are exceptional! My family (young and old) had a great time solving the puzzle on Thansgiving. My 9 year old niece loved it! Once she solved the puzzle, we did races to see who could complete the puzzle first. Great invention and well worth $10. Thinkfun, thank you for making TV less appealing...

I have really enjoyed "spin out." It is fun, challenging, and yet not overly complicated or difficult. Very fun, and highly recommended!

Received one of these from someone and loved it. Purchased several more for students who've shown an interest in the challenges of my puzzles. It's addictive and challenging, perfect for a basket of puzzles for all ages.
