ThinkFun Hyper Swipe

From the Manufacturer

Hyper Swipe puts your reflexes to the test as you race against your opponents to collect the most pattern matches. You’ll have to work at hyper-speed to be the first to identify matches between the square cards in your hand and the circle cards that automatically pop-up from the Hyper Swiper device. The most matches win. These patterns can be tricky and it takes a keen eye to match them. Unique circle cards that make you swap your hand with an opponent plus bonus and penalty point cards mix up the play. Fun for the entire family.

I have two children with special needs and this game was awesome for building up their fine motor skills, eye and hand coordination, and visual discrimination.

This game takes just a few minutes to play and is seriously fun! The age level of this game is 6+, my 5 year old and my 7 year old absolutely love it. It really appeals to my competitive nature, but my kids have still beat me (sometimes) even though I play to win. :) Love a game that can level the playing field, and be fun for my kids and for us grown ups. It's easy enough to play that my kids don't need me to play with them, but also a fast enough game that when they ask me to play a round I can almost always stop what I am doing to oblige.

It's very easy and can be learned with little or not instruction once you've seen a round played. You each get a certain number of square picture cards, 6 for a 2 player game, and less the more players there are. You can always have at least that many in your hand, but never more. You can draw new cards whenever you want to keep your hand stocked.

The Hyper Swiper is filled with round cards that have a pattern of three of the images on them, the trick is that there are 4 different color themes with 3 different images each and they all look surprisingly similar. For example the green images are a leaf, a baseball cap and a lizard. They are all about the same shape and all have black lines defining what they are, so you have to look closely to make sure one of your cards matches one of the images on the round cards. If it does, you swipe it!

If you touch or grab a round card that you don't have a match to, you keep it in a separate pile than your matches and it counts against your score.
There are also trash and treasure cards that look a lot a like...a treasure gives you a point and a trash card loses you a point.

Hyper Swipe is a basic but exciting game. Its better for four year olds, but it's a great game for everyone. It was actually pretty easy to make matches, and the scores were around 10. I liked it because it was fast. However, the dispenser jammed if you pulled the cards out too quickly.

At first glance HyperSwipe appears to be a children's game (and it is great for kids... as many of the other reviews address). But HyperSwipe is actually a lot of fun for adults too! You have to match cards in your hand to round cards that pop out of the HyperSwipe machine - since many of the shapes and colors are similar you really need to focus on what the actual shape is (if you get it wrong you are docked a point). This game forces you to pay close attention to what you are doing and focus on details while also trying to act quickly. By forcing players to focus very carefully, this game exercises your brain and your eyes. I'm 27 and I've had a lot of fun playing HyperSwipe -- it is truly good for all ages!

I was provided with a copy of HyperSwype for review and my kids could not wait to get it out of the box. We have been fans of games from Think Fun for a long time and this game is no exception. HyperSwype is great for visual discrimination! Players have to match pictures from the cards in the card machine to the cards in their hand. The cards that pop out of the machine have pictures that are so similar it is hard to match them quickly. The game was great for my 6 and 8 year old. My 3 1/2 year old wanted to play along but she was too young for the game so she played on my team. I really love games that can be played quickly because I have kids who love to play games I need games that can be played in a few minutes (before school, after dinner) or that is fun enough to hold their attention for a longer amount of time. HyperSwype does that for sure. My older 2 can set up the game and play it by themselves also which is a huge bonus! The only thing that keeps me from giving this game 5 stars is that the card stick in the machine, it is easy to fix but it can slow game play and is a minor annoyance. I still think it's a great game! This game is a good option for a gift for boys and girls.

My family went nuts for HyperSwipe! This game is perfect for a mixed-age crowd, and parents and kids were equally challenged and entertained! Your goal is to match the images on your cards to the images that pop up in the HyperSwiper device - sounds simple, but the images are deceptively similar (is that a cupcake or a jellyfish?!) so you need to stay on your toes and look carefully before snapping up a match!

ThinkFun's Hyper wipe game has taken matching to a whole new level!

Your kids will love racing against each other to collect the most image matches as they pop out of the HyperSwiper! We have been playing the game with our kids and have been having a blast! We had actually been playing quite a bit of matching games before getting HyperSwipe, but were surprised at how creative and new this game concept was!

The innovative, high-tech features of the battery-operated "swiper" really take things above and beyond! But don't worry, although it is tech-savvy, the game is still quite easy to play. A round card will pop out of the HyperSwiper machine and then you have to try and match the images on the card with the images on the square cards in your hand. But be careful--get a wrong match and you get points taken away! Some of the images are pretty similar so you really have to pay attention and keep your eyes peeled for the correct matches! HyperSwipe is great for hand-eye coordination, reflexes, and of course, matching! Everyone in our family enjoyed it, from young to old!
