If you think this book is about martial arts or just for marital artists, you're wrong. It's about applying the principles of martial arts to your life as the most elite martial artists - Black Belts - apply them to their discipline.

In this book, Jim Bouchard shares what he's learned first-hand as a martial artist for nearly 25 years. He takes the concepts he's taught as a Master Instructor and leads you through the process of achieving your Black Belt in your chosen endeavor.

Jim has organized the material in this book so it's simple to follow and digest. There are three major areas, each with three components:

Perfection - excellence, discipline and focus
Confidence - power, perseverance and mastery
Leadership - wisdom, courage and compassion

Throughout the book, Jim shares stories about his experiences that you'll find humorous, touching and inspiring ... in some cases, all at the same time!

When you read Think Like a Black Belt, you'll see quickly that Jim is the real deal. He doesn't pull any punches. He's a master at demonstrating that it's "simple, not easy" to be a big success!

This is a book for those of us who know what we need to do but aren't doing it.
A case could be made that there is nothing "New" in this book; that would be missing the point. Have you achieved your business and personal goals? If not, there is a blueprint here along with some very direct coaching. Ultimately there is little difference between what is required to achieve a black belt and achieving business and personal success.
Quick story.
The last belt before the black belt is the green belt. Guess what? Before you take the green belt you must commit to seek the black belt. In other words, you can't commit to achieving less than your full potential; you must define your ultimate goal in detail and commit to it or find something else worthy of your commitment.
This book could use some editing and is occasionally repetitious, but the black belt model can take you from where you are to where you want to go-particularly if you have been on the road awhile.

Think Like a Black Belt has got to be one of the funniest, most motivating, clever and engaging books I've read in a long time! Jim's philosophy and teachings are very, very powerful! He is honest, witty, to the point, and uses examples from everyday life that will make you laugh and cry! Filled with wisdom and practical advice, Think Like a Blackbelt contains the components of how to be successful in every area of your life, and to change the things that have been holding you back. I loved every page of this book and couldn't put it down. Jim Bouchard has truly created an awe-inspiring gem for anyone in the pursuit of excellence. Filled with both spiritual nuggets and simple to understand and implement, I am confident that you will love this book!

This is a great book to help those get themselves back on track when they seem to be wondering where their life is and where it might be headed.

It gives "Live in the moment" a little more understanding or explanation.

What I found most useful was the message that just as we are predominately the cause of our setbacks and unhappiness, we can just as easily cause our successes and happiness. When we realize that we don't need other people and can fully learn to rely on ourselves, the world will open up with infinite possibilities.

I'm no black belt, but Jim Bouchard's "Think Like a Black Belt" offers up no-nonsense lessons in personal and leadership discipline to succeed in today's predatory and unforgiving economy. Bouchard's unique will challenge you to be your best at a time when only the best will do. Read it. Digest it. Use it. Think like a black belt and before you know it, you'll be crushing the competition and achieving your dreams.
