5.0 out of 5 stars The future of R&B: Diana King
Diana King is currently in a class all her own! Hopefully as Latin and Carribean rhythms are being accepted and integrated more and more into American pop culture, her outstanding music contributions will reach a greater audience.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good
I found this lying around at home. I listened to it and thought
" Not bad, not bad at all". The only song I knew of Diana King was " Shy Guy" which was probably the only song she was known for.
She has quite a strong voice, but all the songs kind of have the same vibe. My favourites are Love Yourself, Say A Little Prayer, Still and Wicked.
Good for...

5.0 out of 5 stars The future of R&B: Diana King, April 25, 2000
This review is from: Think Like a Girl (Audio CD)
Diana King is currently in a class all her own! Hopefully as Latin and Carribean rhythms are being accepted and integrated more and more into American pop culture, her outstanding music contributions will reach a greater audience.

This album is much more diverse than her first with a wide variety of styles that allow Diana to showcase her unique toasting style! But the thing that sets her apart from other female reggae artists is her ability to fuse reggae, r&b and pop into one unique sound. And she can blow! Diana King has been quoted as having one of the best voices in pop music today!

The strongest cuts on this album never were released as singles. "Wicked" is exactly that - wicked! Diana tears the roof off with that one! When she belts out the high note at the climax of the song, you better be holding onto something in the room! "Sweeter" brings back R&B memories of En Vogue. The real kicker is the cover of Culture Club's classic "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?" This song should have been released as a single, and would have sent her straight up the charts.

Even though this album is now about 2.5 years old, it stands the test of time and sounds just as fresh today as it did when it was released. With new material due from Diana shortly, this is a great album to introduce yourself to this wonderful talent!

5.0 out of 5 stars where is she today?, August 14, 2000

this album (1997) is one of my favorites still today. I love the blend of different sounds -with the strong emphasis on reggae. I cannot understand that this artist hasn't received more attention. Where is she today? If you like strong female vocals and a blended beat that never quits -get this album. (She's gorgeous too)!

5.0 out of 5 stars ...nice beats.....wonderful songs.....simply superb!, June 24, 1998

This review is from: Think Like a Girl (Audio CD)
Seldom do I find artists who are able to come up with a follow-up album that will equal and/or surpass the great quality of their debut album. Diana's debut album had great songs, but I have to say, I loved her more after listening to this album. The songs here are a mixture of pop and R&B with a touch of the lovely Jamaican beats. I love listening to this album because I think the songs here represent the modern sound of the 90's and Diana simply has that unique singing style that's simply her own. What's more, included in the tracks are 2 revivals: "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me", formely sung by Culture Club, and a dance remix of "I Say A Little Prayer", a song taken from the soundtrack of "My Best Friend's Wedding." How's that for a bonus? Get a copy of this album.......it's simply superb!!

5.0 out of 5 stars There's a Message to Her Music!!!, June 7, 1999
This review is from: Think Like a Girl (Audio CD)
I love Diana King's music. Not only do her songs have catchy beats and lyrics but they have serious messages. I think every woman who has been in an abusive relationship or knows someone who has should listen to "Love Yourself." This CD is powerful and I can't wait for Ms. King's next effort.

Diana has delivered More Unique Stlye on this sophmore set that is more infused with her Personality. Get to know this Diva in the making, as she shows her conciousness on tracks like "LOVE YOURSELF" and crys soulfully on "TENDERNESS". The Beats are a happy Marriage of Reggae, R&B and Pop. I remember watching her perform, years ago, at the New Kingston Shopping Centre in Jamaica, West Indies as she wooed and delighted the Audience with her unique style of singing. It is a pleasure to see her attain World Wide success and have one her songs performed by one of the Divas of our time Celine Dion who did "Treat her Like A Lady" on her album Lets Talk About Love. Keep Doing Music Your Way Diana the Best is yet to come.
