Product Description

Its roomy internal dimensions of 13.75"W x 27.5"H x 8.25-10"D (35 x 70 x 21-25.5 cm) allow it to hold multiple combinations of cameras and lenses, lighting gear such as strobes and reflectors, and accessories of all kinds. As there are many instances when photographers shooting on location must leave behind some or all of their gear, Logistics Manager offers a three-tier security system: A TSA combination lock to secure the main zipper. A rear security cable and combination lock allow the roller to be locked to immovable objects. A Security ID Plate with online plate registration allows lost gear to be identified and returned to the owner. Its additional key features include: Extendable handle for easy transport and maneuverability and replaceable wheels within protective housings for greater longevity. .Attachment points on both sides for tripods or light stands A stretchable lower pocket in front that expands for cords, reflectors, and other grip items. Upper front pocket with built-in organizer and key loop. An organizer side pocket for secondary storage. Clear interior pockets for accessories. No Rhetoric lifetime warranty "The Logistics Manager provides the answer to a question often asked by working photographers, which is, how can I transport all of my gear into the field, have quick access to it, and secure it from loss or theft," said Doug Murdoch, Think Tank Photo president and lead designer. "We took the design and engineering principles we pioneered in our line-up of award-winning rolling camera bags and applied them to this very roomy pro photographer logistics solution."

I am a professional reviewer of film and editing equipment for some of the major Final Cut Pro based websites but in no way am I obligated to provide either positive or negative comments or nonsense hyperbole. All my reviews are based on honest opinions after being used multiple times.

What do you do when your rolling camera equipment bag simply can't be stuffed any fuller than it already is? Why, get a larger one! We've all done it, filled every nook and cranny of our gear bags till they were bursting at the seams and then hoped they would fit into the overhead of the airlines. On my last trip to Roatan, I believe my Think Tank International carry on roller weighed more than any of my checked baggage and was lucky that it still fit in the overhead bin of the airplane.

Sometimes we have a shoot that demands more equipment than can fit into any carry on and that is where Think Tank's Logistics Manager roller bag comes to the forefront. With its external dimensions of 15.75" W x 30" H x 11.5" D and internal dimensions of 13.75" W x 27.5" H x 8.25", the Logistics Manager is far too large to be considered as a carry on for air transportation, and while it is certainly sturdy enough to be checked in at an airport, I would not recommend doing so since I would never trust TSA and baggage handlers who couldn't care less about my precious equipment at any airport. Never the less, a TSA combination lock secures the main zipper while another TSA lock and cable is found in the back pocket. This cable/lock combo allows you to tether the Logistics bag to any secure pole, seat or fixed object so that it cannot be stolen while your attention is diverted while on a shoot or at an airport.

I'm on the road a lot, often times out of state for months shooting. Having a bag that can handle it all, my main and backup gear, is essential. I bought this bag based off the preview photo and how it was set up - absolutely EXACTLY what I wanted. The price tag is hefty but finally finding a bag to set the way I've been looking for made me overlook that. Problem is, it doesn't work that way!

Take a look at the 300 sticking out, you think they're just pushing it up to show it off right, a "hey look at what fits here"? WRONG! You can't close the bag at all like that, which I found to be a bit of false advertising. There's a hump there for the handle and even if you switch the bag around and put it where the hump is not you still can not close the bag as the 300 is too tall (it pushes into where your laptop is - not exactly what you want!). This means you have to lay it down like the 400 and it takes up a lot of unnecessary room that the preview images do not show. Was/am not happy about that! I bought it to set it up exactly as they have shown, disappointing and probably should have returned it and kept on looking, too late now as I needed a bag to use for an assignment immediately.

As for the bag itself, it's sturdy - comes with a ton of pads in every shape/size to customize it as needed. There's a rain cover in there, and some accessory bags as well that at first I thought would collect dust, but all of a sudden found myself using one at least. Overall seems very well built, but again not being able to set it up like the preview is a thorn in the side. You also will have to buy some foam padding for the bottom of the bag.

Wow! Once you conquer your fear of checking thousands of dollars of camera gear at the ticket counter, you realize that this nondescript suitcase can take it and dish it out. It's tough, extremely well padded, and the extension handle is firm and secure, despite loaded up well past 40kg! Add a couple of TSA combo locks, and you're in business.

I own three of these babies, plus the larger Production Manager for my studio lighting and HDDs. Show your professional media photographer ID at check in and it'll cost you $25 - $45 to check it with peace of mind. (Pro Tip.)
