When I first started reading this book, I thought it was going to be too much of the same info in Murphy's other books. But after the first part, the book started getting into some additional info that was very useful. Plus, the author gives real life examples of how thinking rich helped people. If you've grown up reading the Bible or even just hearing famous verses (who hasn't?) THINK YOURSELF RICH will open your eyes to some meanings you may have never thought of before. Reading this book will give you a better understanding of the admonition to "Bless them that curse you." Forgiveness is really about not punishing yourself for things others have done to you. Never give power to anyone or anything but yourself. You are the only thinker in your universe. No one should be able to deflect you from your aim in life. Einstein said, "Imagination is greater than knowlege." This is so true! Have you ever thought you had to settle for something less and then found what you got was even less than the something you would settle for? You should never settle. You can always get exactly what you want. It is true that you should reach for the stars rather than a blade of grass, because the higher your aim, the higher the target you will hit. After reading this book, I realized that there is a law of abundance but none of poverty. I put some things into action that were only ideas in my head before, and I expect that they are going to be quite successful. No one is helpless because we can all believe what we choose to believe. I choose to believe we were all meant to have the very best in life and I will hold on to that belief. "In quietness and confidence shall be your strength." (Isaiah 30:15)

5.0 out of 5 stars Stop Believing the Lies, October 20, 2006
By
This review is from: Think Yourself Rich (Paperback)
It is the Father's good pleasure to give you the Kingdom...
LUKE 12:32

It seems as though there are a lot of people out there who seem to think that God is kind of a tyrant. That God is sort've on the begrudging side. I can't help but form the picture of this big, huge anthropomorphic man in the sky wearing a "wife beater" T-shirt, holding a beer can, and having a three day's growth of beard on his face snarling at the world, "Damn fool kids...what...do they think I'm made of money?"

Is this the kind of God Jesus referred to as "Abba" which literally means, "Good Daddy"? I don't think so. God is never withholding. In each and every moment of creation, God, the Living Spirit is filling every bit of space with Grace, with Beauty, with Wisdom, with Plenty. If you find yourself living "without" it's because you haven't gone "within".

I love this book by Murphy. I love the way he writes. It's all so simple to him. Change your thoughts and you'll change your life. Abra Cadabra. Poof! Your wish is granted. But because most of us have "grown up"...in other words, we have let veils fall over our innocent eyes we stop believing this thigs really could be this simple. We think we have to work hard for our money, that some people get all the breaks, that it's all in who you know....and I'll have to concur with this statement...it is all in who you know...and did you know that God is our Infinite Source?
Did you know that God is Love and Love is God and all of God's Love is within you and around you now giving you every good thing? Did you know that, huh? huh? huh?

I believed in the lies for years. I thought I was born under a bad sign. I thought that there just wasn't enough and yet I professed to believe in God. The only God there is, is the One of our "own making". We forget that we are made in the Image and Likeness of Spirit, of Abundance, of Wealth, of Plenty and so we make God in our image and likeness; stingy, withholding, spiteful, ignorant of our wants and needs...that's not God...that's a reflection of the human race and it is time to change this thought...

Get this book and read what it has to say. Let it move you, let it inspire you, let your mind and your heart and your soul open up to plenty and really, really want it, expect it, allow it AND want it for all others. You read right...if you really want to be rich and prosperous and fulfilled in every way, you have to want everyone to be rich, prosperous, and fulfilled in every way.

Recently, an amazon friend (Hi, Deb) introduced me to the Million Dollar Intention on StevePavlina.com. He says the same thing that Murphy is saying, that thoughts are things, that what we imagine will come forth, that it's not a question if whether or not our intentions will manifest, the real question is, "What are we intending to create right now?"

And that is the secret...it doesn't matter what has been, what matters is what are you willing to believe and accept and embrace and embody right now. I want to be a millionaire...that is my intention...I want to be a happy, successful, fulfilled millionaire AND I want all of you reading to be a millionaire. I do not have permission to use Steve Pavlina's words, so I will give you my own...

In a wonderful and beautiful way, I now allow $1,000,000 or more to come into my life and into the lives of everyone who holds this intention with me. Today, we accept, embrace, and embody the Truth that God is Love and that God's Love makes all things possible to us and through us. We accept riches, abundance, and wealth of every kind. We are inspired to bring forth what is ours to bring forth and even now we express, extend, and experience the abundance of God in all we think, do, and say and so we let this be and so it is.

Repeat these words of Spirit, these words of Life, these words of Divine Activity until you feel something within burning. That is desire and desire is not a bad thing as some would like you to believe it is. Desire propels us into a new direction. It wakes us up in the morning and keeps us going all day. It takes down the old and makes room for the new. God desired us into being and that is why we are who we are and each one of us is here to live a life filled to overflowing...

So buy this book and help change the consciousness of the entire world.

Peace and Blessings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Murphy's rules...., August 17, 2005

I have a few books by this author and his philosophy has been consistent. I like his books for their simplicity (his directions are very easy to follow), and his approach to the widest possible audience. If you are interested in leading a richer, fuller life, this book serves as excellent guide. It is an easy to follow, spiritually based instruction manual for acquiring riches. It is also a relaxing and enjoyable read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Book with a Somewhat Misleading Title, July 18, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Think Yourself Rich (Paperback)
Dr. Joseph Murphy was a pioneer of self-help psychology and this is an excellent book. However, the title had led me to believe that this book focused on material advancement, whereas the author actually focuses upon being rich within the totality of circumstances. While there is a good deal of discussion about material prosperity, there is a decidedly spiritual slant to the message. Like other Murphy books, there are many scriptural references to be found here, but I want to emphasize that this isn't a dogmatic, religious approach to prosperity. The book contains many anecdotal stories that illustrate the points the author is making. In a nutshell, positive self talk, coupled with the ability to truly forgive others can lead to great things.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Book I have EVER read in my life, December 8, 2006
By
This review is from: Think Yourself Rich (Paperback)
I really, honestly wish I had come across this book about 10 years ago. It would have prevented me from going through 10 extremely difficult years of ups and downs, never fully understanding why I was continuing to fail. Bouncing from job to job, and dealing with a whole array of negative experiences. Little did I know until reading this book, is that I was creating those conditions and experiences for myself. This book opened my eyes like no book has ever done so before. It's beautifully written, easy to understand, very easy to apply, and it's the kind of book that would change the state of affairs in this world if everyone HAD TO read it.

I can't say enough good about this book and the instant results it will bring.

5.0 out of 5 stars We Are What We Think, June 27, 2006
By
This review is from: Think Yourself Rich (Paperback)
"As a man thinketh in his heart so is he." (Proverbs 23:7). Prosperity, health, and happiness are a product of our thoughts. This book explains how your thinking has got you where are today and that in order to change your conditions you must change your thinking. Easier said than done. This book is a blueprint on how to change your thinking to become more prosperous, healthy and happy. It expounds upon biblical truths and while it is a very spiritual book, it is not religious. Anyone, from any religion, even an agnostic can use the truths in this book to change their life. I refer to this book daily and have found it to be a catalyst to my own fulfillment and happiness.

1.0 out of 5 stars Is there any respcet to the reader?, October 5, 2011
By
This review is from: Think Yourself Rich (Paperback)
When I was reading the book, I thought the stories were interesting. Halfway through the book, I decided to get more information about the author. When I realized that he was dead in 1981, I was shocked! In many of the stories in the book, he mentions the Internet! I know this copy has been revised, but there was no introduction from the Ian McMahan who did the revision. There should be at least a paragraph saying that the stories have been altered to make them more appealing the new generation. But now honestly I have a hard time believing the stories that are on the book. How can I know that they were real and not imagined!
The reader deserves a little respect!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Read, February 24, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Think Yourself Rich (Paperback)
I've been around the metaphysical block a few times, have read hundreds of books on subjects similar to those presented in this book, and I can honestly say that this is one of the best ones I've read.

Reading it creates that "good feeling" that's so essential to vibrational alignment. And even though the book was originally published well before "The Secret" or the Abraham-Hicks material. many of the concepts in those works are reflected here. But unlike The Secret, Murphy adds the spiritual component which is an integral part of attracting positive experiences (Abraham-Hicks focuses on the importance of vibrational alignment with "Source." See Everything You Want!: The Law of Attraction in Action, Episode VII)

So if you want another take on the Law of Attraction, Murphy provides it in clear, easy to understand language, with lots of examples. Each chapter concludes with a nice meditation for reprogramming the subconsious mind and a summary of the major concepts covered.

All in all, well woth the price of the book.
