These place mats work well and clean very easily with some water and light elbow grease.

The reason for 3 stars is I was at the dollar tree a while back, and saw these exact place mats for $1 each.

So check your local store if you are after these!

I was tired of cloth place mats and thier constant need for washing. I didn't want plastic, but I did want an easy to clean surface. These mats fit the bill perfectly. They look good and only need to be wiped to clean. I also bought some bamboo tableware and they go perfectly together. These are excellent mats that are well made and look good.

Just what I was looking for...an almost perfect match to what I already had. I am glad I ordered them on the internet because where I initially purchased them they had a limited supply.

My family, with elementary age kids, has been pleased with these placemats. I was afraid they would be too hard to clean, but they wipe clean pretty easily. Over 3-4 months of use, we've had a variety of spills, including raspberry juice, ice cream and chocolate, and they still look good. I just wipe (or scrub!) them with a damp cloth, and maybe a brush if something gooey is between the bamboo pieces.
