4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect home for whole coffee beans.
I purchased a logo branded version of this container from Peet's Coffee site several years ago and am very happy with it. The Large size will take exactly one pound (16oz) of beans. If bean aroma & flavor is any indication, the canister is very good at locking that in for at least 2-3 weeks- the time it takes me to go through a coffee pound at work. This logo-less version...

3.0 out of 5 stars cute but tiny
My husband bought all three sizes of these canisters for Xmas for me - I just checked them out when they arrived. They are very cute and well made, but DANG they are TINY. I think the desciption says they are 5 1/4 or 1/2 inches in diameter, but that's just the lid. When you open the lid, the actual canister is only about 4 1/4 in diameter, which is very, very small. I wanted them for flour, sugar, and something else to be determined. I can put these things in them, but I'll still have half a bag of each to store somewhere else, which sort of defeats the purpose. But they're so cute that I don't think I can return them. So basically I just wanted to say that the size measurements are pretty misleading.

3.0 out of 5 stars Really isint air tight, December 12, 2011

This review is from: ThinkBamboo Small Air Tight Bamboo Canister - Carbonized Brown
I bought this to keep some special smelling herbs in. However these special herbs really stink. So when I bought this product I figured air tight would mean not letting any air in or out. Well lets just say that this little container isint air tight. Comes with a plastic bowl insert. With or without the bowl it isint air tight, If looking for something air tight look elsewhere

This logo-less version is the exact same container as Peet's, but the plastic liner was updated resulting in a slightly tighter seal.

The only minor complaint I have is that it's not 100% air tight. But vacuum containers for coffee storage are more trouble than they're worth and gimmicky valve containers are no better. ThinkBamboo air tightness is *good enough* for my coffee's longevity.

1.0 out of 5 stars Half & Half, January 19, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased two, one plain and one striped. The striped one has no defects, it is in fact lovely.

The plain one, well, the top has a gouge in it and the sides are ruff. In order to open the lid the band around the body, which is the lower part of the hinge/lock, is pulled out of it's groove in the back, which makes the hinge spread and causes grinding when the lid is moved. Add to that when the lid is closed there is a gap between the body and the lid big enough for the ground coffee (I was going to use this for) to pour out.

Original I was going to just ask for a new one. After all the strip was OK. But Amazon can't do an exchange on a 3ed party idem. So now I think I'll wait.

IF all the others are like the striped one, it is a very good value.

Pot Luck. Crap shoot. And I do mean CRAP.

Amizon did not refund all my money. So defective products are in fact your problem not theirs.

I'm not going to purchase a replacement.

4.0 out of 5 stars coffee container, March 26, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Liked the look and the price was decent. Has a plastic sleeve to hold the coffee (or whatever) and a rubbery gasket to seal the top that is loose. About once a week it has to be re-seated. Otherwise good product.
