5.0 out of 5 stars Super fun for kids and parents October 9, 2011
Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This game has been an absolute hit at our house! You each get a card with a cartoon character on it with 6 features; head, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and an extra accessory. You get to study the card for 30 seconds and then you have to draw it from memory. It has a sturdy easel type board with the features all drawn out so you can look at it for reference.
It is actually challenging! My husband and I play it with our 7 year old daughter and almost 6 year old son, and while our son is a little slower at drawing, we just have to give him a little more time at the end to draw out everything he remembers. We've all won rounds and lost rounds. It's amazing how much you can forget once the card gets turned over!
It levels out the playing field and you don't have to be a good artist at all which is great for my son who is just learning to draw more complex things and good for my husband who is a stick figure only kind of guy. You just have to be able to get the basic shape; like a round head, two nostrils, bunny ears, mouth with a tongue and a bow. As long as the general idea is there you get a point for it. The features are all different enough that you can tell what the person was trying to draw.
We've really enjoyed this game and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to play something fun with the kids, or something fun for the kids to play on their own that won't get boring. It's also great to work your memory muscles...and us adults might need that more than our kids! :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Unique Memory Game December 2, 2011
Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 4.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Cartoon It! is totally unlike any game we've ever played.

The game begins as each player is given 30 seconds to memorize the features of a cartoon character on a card. When time ends, the player turns the card over and uses the "Features Board" to assist him in recalling all the parts of the cartoon. He draws the cartoon with as much accuracy as possible. Points are awarded for number of correct features; a bonus point is given to the player who finishes first.

We played this for the first time over Thanksgiving break with a mixed group, ages 5-adult. One adult was always done first, so we quickly decided to forego giving a bonus point for finishing first. If we allowed players the time they needed, all players got full points every time. (It's slightly embarrassing to admit that the 5yo often remembered as well as the adults. I shouldn't be surprised considering the fact that my kids regularly beat me at Memory.) Since everyone was successful, it became less a competitive game and more of an opportunity to work on drawing and memorization. We experienced amusement, merriment, and occasional awe as we viewed all the drawings. When the rest of us quit, the 5yo kept drawing on his own, using the cards and the features board. I could see it inspiring some children to draw more often.

I think this is the perfect game for the right person/group. It's a great little tool for children to practice memorization and drawing skills. I like the visual/spatial qualities. I could see a group of slightly older children having an uproariously good time, comparing their cartoons to the originals. The game fills a unique niche in the market and could be a fun group activity for holiday play, games nights, or parties. It would also make a fun classroom game for early finishers...especially those who like to draw.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cartoon It! Highly Recommended December 6, 2011
Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
The best part of this game is that it really allows each player to utilize their own creativity, which means nonstop fun and entertainment for the whole family! What I enjoy most is actually trying to recall what is on your card because it is a lot harder than it seems. Seeing an image for a very short period of time and then attempting to recreate it definitely puts your mind and attention skills to the test. This is a great game especially for school-age children because you can engage them in an activity that is fun and worthwhile at the same time. I also will mention that getting the opportunity to see how everyone draws makes it even more hilarious. Best of all, everyone enjoys themselves, which makes this a great game for family nights!
