Customer Reviews

It feels like a good quality product to me, sturdy.
AscendedFish
The colors are OK, turning not very smoothly, I would recommend you guys try another gear cube rather than this one.

Once we dropped it, and it was done (plastic cracked and we couldn't put it back together).

I was a bit skeptical at first, as there were no reviews, and the price range was quite different to other available gear cubes, but... I LOVE it!

Quality 9/10
It is a knockoff cube, and has Chinese packaging (probably originating from china), but this did not affect shipment(2 days). It is sticker-less and the colors are somewhat printed onto the cube's plastic, and i was quite disappointed at this at first, but later this proved to be for the better. The puzzles sticker-less solution prevents stickers from ripping or falling off, which i imagine would be the case in this puzzle. It turned great out of the box, and it certainly has a cool "gear cube feel" to it whilst one in solving it.

Puzzle Difficult 2/10
The puzzle is VERY simple to solve once you can wrap your head around how it turns, making solving possible without the use of ANY algorithms! Much easier than a 2x2! It is still tons of fun though and certainly impresses a large crowd easily.

This is a fun puzzle. When I first got it I scrambled it up, and I started to get an idea of how the pieces move relative to each other. It's very interesting with the gears, and I had a lot of fun simply moving the puzzle. It's hard to describe but I just like the way it feels when it turns. I spent half an hour figuring out how to solve it, and now it takes under a minute to solve; it's very easy and requires no algorithms. Once, I was scrambling it, then looked down at the cube and realized that I had just about solved it by accident. You can only do 180 degree rotations because the middle layer will move 45 degrees after a 90 degree rotation of the corresponding outer layer. I recommend this puzzle if you're looking for a fun, new interesting puzzle to add to your collection, but don't want to memorize any new algorithms or methods for solving. I did rate this toy's education value at 5 stars because it is nice to have a puzzle that is manageable to learn how to solve on your own. My friend spent an entire summer learning to solve the Rubik's Cube without any help; I used an online tutorial. The gear cube on the other hand... anyone can learn how to solve it themselves without a tutorial, or spending days on end creating algorithms from scratch!

I've now had the puzzle for over a week. Out of the packaging turning was stiff, but it has been "broken in" enough now that turning actually doesn't require much effort, and it's about as smooth as you would expect, considering the mechanism with the gears. Not that it matters, but it is "finger trick-able" meaning I can turn layers with the flick of one finger. I've had no problems with it, no pops or anything. I can't imagine how you would take it apart. It feels like a good quality product to me, sturdy.

I really like this puzzle. What's great about it is that there really is no trick to it. Unlike a regular rubik's cube, anyone can solve it with some critical thinking. The first time i solved it it took about 3 minutes, the second time it took 20, and my time still varies when solving. The puzzle turns very well and seems to click into place between 90 degree turns. However, this cube does not cut corners at all. If you overshoot a turn and then try to turn a different side the puzzle will lock up. The color scheme is okay and comes in the traditional arrangement except white is replaced with purple. The painted "stickers" are a double edged sword. I like not feeling the edges of my stickers getting worn out when i play with the puzzle but I'm sure that eventually the paint will chip off. The overall construction seems pretty good too. I don't think i could get this thing apart if i tried. All in all, it's definitely worth the money

i was exited to get this gear cube. it was fine out of the box except for one side which turned horribly. when i took it to school the next day my friend dropped it and it shattered. the center piece literally broke apart and when i tried to super glue it at first it worked then broke again. when i super glued it the 2nd time i glued the screw now its in pieces and unusable. DO NOT DROP!

This cube is a great concept. However when I received the item I turned it once an it was super stiff. Another turn and one of the faces broke off completely and I re attached it with super glue. I was able to loosen everything up but a few hours later it became stiff again and ANOTHER face broke off. I fixed it yet again but I am no longer going to mess around with this cube. It's good for show but it is very fragile.

The puzzle itself is very well designed and fun to solve (relatively easily); the shipping was very fast as well: only 3-4 days. The only problem is that the puzzle locks up quite a bit, which can be very much blamed on the fact that it uses gears for turning (though it seems the Mefferts brand puzzle doesn't lock up as much). Also the cube is not stickerless, but has plastic layers over each sticker to avoid it coming off. Overall a good buy.
